Media Monday: Fox News Sucks!

I used to like Fox News.I think I would like Fox Business Channel too, if they were available.

Without Beck and Napolitano, Fox is stuck in the bush leagues. No John Drews. No Larry Sinclairs. No Philip Bergs. O'Reilly is a sell-out and Hannity is an idiot.

Media Monday: Robert Reich is a Chronically Dishonest Human Being.

I still hold the opinion that the very best book written about the news media is "The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS." I sometimes wish that Michael Fumento had chosen a different title. The book was not one of the many AIDS conspiracy/alternative theory slush piles that afflicted the early 90's. "The Myth..." was an analysis of the media coverage of the AIDS epidemic.

If there is only one thing to be learned (and there is more than one thing to be learned) from reading this masterpiece, it is that the media, and people in general, can radically distort the truth without telling a single overt lie. Lies can be easily refuted. Not so half-truths and willful omissions of significant details. For instance, the media echo chamber chanted the "Heterosexuals are the fastest growing group of AIDS victims" slogan. What they deleted was the foot note that immigrants who contracted the disease abroad were automatically classified as heterosexual. An important omission of detail.

As much as I would prefer that Fumento called the book something other than "The Myth of Heterosexual AIDS" the controversy surrounding the book would ultimately confirm a point that Fumento was trying to make. Namely, that political correctness is more important than truth for the news media. I am not sure that a day goes by when the press sacrifices truth on the altar of political correctness. Social Security is a legally sanctioned and socially sanctioned pyramid scheme. But the press will not acknowledge that it is a giant Ponzi schme beacuse it is legally and socially sanctioned. Political correctness wins again.

"The Myth..." promotes a tragic flaw of human communication. Sadly, it takes more verbiage, more time, and more energy to refute a falsehood than to promote a falsehood. As compelling as Fumento's magnum opus happened to be, it did not compete with the mighty roar of Oprah, the pitter patter of the Associated Press and the mindless parroting of every talking head in the electronic news media.

Robert Reich is the embodiment of all that is wrong with the media that Fumento exposed eighteen years ago. Reich is the master of half truth and the following videos illustrate this. It bears emphasizing that the entire "the top X per cent have increased their wealth by Y..." is utter, unadulterated bullshit. That whole line of chatter is invalidated because indivuals move from one group to another. Reich omits the mobility factor. He knows he is being dishonest when he spreads this sort of part-truth. Honor means nothing to Reich. He reminds us of Falstaff:

'...honour pricks
me on. Yea, but how if honour prick me off when I
come on? how then? Can honour set to a leg? no: or
an arm? no: or take away the grief of a wound? no.
Honour hath no skill in surgery, then? no. What is
honour? a word. What is in that word honour? what
is that honour? air. A trim reckoning! Who hath it?
he that died o' Wednesday. Doth he feel it? no.
Doth he hear it? no. 'Tis insensible, then. Yea,
to the dead. But will it not live with the living?
no. Why? detraction will not suffer it. Therefore
I'll none of it. Honour is a mere scutcheon...'

Of course Falstaff is more endearing than the King of Economic Snake Oil.

Fumento wrote about political correctness and was tormented by the PC police.Reich might be bogus, but his verbiage is always politically correct. Always. Always. Always. Thus, he will always have access to media.

And lastly, Reich confirms what Fumento illustrated long ago about the ease of promoting falsehood versus the difficulty of refuting falsehood. Last I checked Reich's vid had over 1.3 million hits on Youtube alone (and it has been distributed elsewhere.) Murphy has about 28,000 Youtube hits and Doren has about 48,000. Reich piles it high and deep in two minutes and fifteen seconds. It takes Doren over twice as long to refute and it takes Murphy over four times as long to challenge three points. Advantage false witness.

IT IS EASIER TO DISPENSE FALSEHOOD THAN TO REFUTE FALSEHOOD

Media Monday: 'Regulation' Becomes The New Magic Word

Try this at home. This is from Tony Robbins himself. The word "because" is a magic word. You want to cut in front of everyone standing in queue at the copy machine. If you give them a reason to let you cut in line and your reason begins with the word "because" the copy people will allow you to cut in line. Whereas, if you just say "can I cut in line?" the answer will usuually be "No!"

What is interesting is that it doesn't matter all that much what verbiage follows "because." Everyone at the copier might be late with their deadline but "...because I am late with my deadline" will probably work like a key in a padlock. "Because" is a magic word. Try it.

"Regulation" is the new magic word. You can bet that it has been focus group-tested and has outperformed words like "control," "dominate," "crush" and "obliterate." If morality aand honesty have no merit at all (and those things mean nothing to Maddow, Reich and MSNBC) then one should use the words "regulate" and "regulation" as frequently as possible. Large portions of their viewing audience will support greater regulation, better regulation, tighter regulation regardless of their knowledge of the current regulatory environment. Magic words.

IT'S FASTER THAN 'HI BOB.' EVERY TIME THEY SAY "REGULATION" WE ALL TAKE A SWIG

Media Monday: How Herman Cain Got Cred

If the primaries were held tomorrow, I would probably vote for Herman Cain. Prior to this interview he was number five or six on my list. But the only way for a candidate of the people to get any traction is for him to be attacked by the news media. The more they hate a candidate, the more popular that candidate becomes. I am not the only one who shares that outlook. Cain's poll numbers have gone through the roof after this attack.

HOW DARE YOU WANDER OFF THE LEFTIST PLANTATION!!!

Media Monday: Excellent Andy Rooney Summary

Andy Rooney was an unabashed leftist (I hate it when the word liberal is misused) who admitted his bias but was critical of Dan Rather for being too transparent in the promotion of his agenda.

Andy Rooney delivered his final commentary Sunday night at the end of 60 Minutes and while the now 92-year old curmudgeon’s pieces usually dealt with non-serious topics, he should be credited for being able to recognize, unlike many of his prominent peers, that the media are liberal – even conceding his own “liberal bias.” He declared Dan Rather “transparently liberal” and quipped people in the news business “were almost evenly divided” in 2004 – “half of them liked Senator Kerry; the other half hated President Bush.”

The post continues at the link below. Read it!

Media Monday: Stop The Presses: MSNBC Plays The Race Card!!!

Is there a focus group in the house? We know that Obama loves to play the race card and he plays it by proxy. I contend that the blanket charge of racism for all who might happen to disagree with the president has hurt, not helped, Obama.

Americans don't like to be called racist (especially those who are not racist)and the president's lap dogs love to use that term. But don't they realize how weak Obama looks when they use this tactic? He comes across as the biggest pansy this country has ever produced. "Wahhh. If you point out my unending ineptitude, my butt buddies will call you racist. Wahhhh."

It's bad enough that the brown-lipped media continue their one trick pony routine but it makes the candy-ass-in-chief look even weaker than he would already look. If Mr. Civility wants to call his opponents racists, then he should grow a set and speak his mind. But Mr. Sniveler would never do anything so bold. He will let his bullies (such as they are) do his fighting for him.

Poor baby!

Media Monday: As Obama Tanks, His Supporters His Sycophants Crank Up The Volume

Other liberal columnists have weighed in against Rick Perry, but the prize for wooden-headed commentary on the matter goes to Bill Keller of The New York Times, who in a Sunday column, "Asking Candidates Tougher Questions About Faith," mocks the Mormonism of Mitt Romney and Former Utah governor Jon Huntsman, and mistakenly identifies former senator Rick Santorum as an "evangelical Christian," when he is actually a Roman Catholic.

Mr. Keller and other liberals huffed and puffed in 2008 about how Mr. Obama's 20-year membership in the congregation of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, noted for his hateful anti-white sermons, mustn't be questioned.

Media Monday: Dylan Ratigan Talks Over His Guest And Then Cuts His Mic

What is doubly interesting about this vid is that the person posting it is a Ratigan Rah-Rah. A Fox News hater (organization?) who calls himself (themselves?) FixedNewsChannel, sees Ratigan's brand of journalism as entirely commendable.

Media Monday: Dispelling The Myth That Fox News Is A Counter Balance To The MSM

John Drew went to Occidental and knew Barack Obama when Obama was an unabashed Marxist. This is highly significant because we still know little about Obama and also because Obama has never denounced his orientation. Obama has never shared a Road to Damascus experience with us. Apparently, Saul is still a sophomoric Saul.

Given the recent economic downturn, Obama's Marxism is even more signficant. His obsessive "millionaires and billionaires" verbiage in the face of economic disaster is concerning. It is possible that Obama just cannot get the big picture because of his political obsessions. Then again, maybe he wants to collapse the system. A bloodless coup.

For whatever reason Fox News does not want to talk to John Drew. According to Drew, he has contacted Fox News but thay see no need to put him on the air. John Drew's story is important. Help spread the word!

Media Monday: In Your Face, America

Is there a profit-making business -- other than TV networks and The New York Times -- that so disrespects its audience it works overtime to offend them?

What other business metaphorically flips the bird to those who don't subscribe to their social, cultural and political worldview? That is precisely what big media does to a large number of potential viewers and subscribers.

Three recent examples: 1) The inexplicable editing of the Pledge of Allegiance during the opening of last Sunday's U.S. Open on NBC; 2) the naming of ultra-liberal Norah O'Donnell of MSNBC as CBS News' new chief White House correspondent, in time for the 2012 election; and 3) last Sunday's New York Times, which appeared to be a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Washington Blade, a leading newspaper for the LGBT community.

Media Monday: 61 % Still Angry At biased Media

Most voters are still angry at the media, but they’re less convinced that the majority of reporters are biased in favor of President Obama.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% of Likely U.S. Voters are at least somewhat angry at the media, with 26% who are Very Angry. Thirty-six percent (36%) don’t share that anger, including 13% who are Not At All Angry at the media. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

This is only slightly less anger than voters expressed in June of last year as the midterm election season was heating up. It’s down a bit, too, from the 69% who express anger at the current policies of the federal government.
