Not sure how these numbers might change if Comey recommends indictment for perjury stemming from her testimony in front of Congress. Also, should the FBI director recommend indictment for public corruption associated with the Clinton Foundation, the needle might move a bit.
An ABC/WaPo Poll reveals that 56% of Americans support Hillary's indictment vs. 35% support amnesty for Madam Secretary.
It gets worse for Hills and Company. 6 out of 10 Independents want her indicted vs. 9 out of 10 Republicans and even 3 out of 10 Democrats.
Rasmussen released a poll last week with similar results.

Rasmussen Reports Spins Their Bad Results
Greg Orman/Pat Roberts will go down in the annals of bad polling. Rasmussen had Orman up five points. He lost by eleven.
When you get past the spin, you will see some bad results by Rasmussen.
I only learned a few weeks ago that Scott Rasmussen sold his interest in Rasmussen Reports in 2013.

Rasmussen Has Obama's Approval Rating Qt 45% For Three Consecutive Days
Maybe there is hope for the Hope Dopes after all. After bemoaning the permanency of BO's approval ratings (at 49% See http://obotomy.blogspot.com/2014/06/obama-has-lowest-favorable-rating-among.html comments.) Total Approval has topped out at 45% at Rasmussen. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll

Obots' Unconditional Love For Their Leader
This blog started in late 2008 to denounce the frightening religious devotion to Barack Obama. At the time I thought Obamamania would be a passing fad. I was wrong.
In the wake of a deadly VA scandal, the roll out of a new war on coal and a jihadists for deserter trade that would leave even leftist pundits scratching their heads, one would think that Barack Obama's numbers would plummet. His approval rating is 50% at Rasmussen.
We underestimate the cultist loyalty that surrounds Obama. I thought given his disastrous first term, a term that would that would make Jimmy Carter and Herbert Hoover look good by comparison and would qualify Obama as one of the two or three worst presidents in US History, the cultists might turn on their exalted leader. Wrong!
I thought that the Benghazi scandal might change a few minds. I thought the revelations of 2013, where Lois Lerner publicly confirmed that the IRS had been weaponized and might have tipped the scales in the 2012 election and that the NSA and the White House spied on both honest citizens and honest reporters, might be a tipping point. Wrong!
Never before have we seen a politician whose career has been defined entirely by scandal and ineptitude. Yes, he killed Bin Laden. Got anything else? Anything? Anything at all? It has been an endless parade of Solyndras and Fast and Furiouses and malfunctioning websites and absurd deficits. 50% approval.
Obots cannot and will not face facts. They don't have to and you can't make them! NaNaNaNa! They will defriend anyone who says something unfavorable about their deity. They will block the channel that maybe, just maybe, will criticize him. They will leave the room when someone says something not overtly worshipful about their leader. 50% approval! Unconditional love!
I have heard callers on radio shows suggest that the megalomaniac will extra-legally try for a third term. He will not give up power so easily. I have friends who have echoed this fear. That used to seem like irrational paranoia. No longer.
Barack Obama knows that he is infallible in the eyes of his followers. He is emboldened. 50% approval!
We are all in danger!

Forecast: More Fainting Women
I don't know the real mind control tactics. It could be microwaves to the brain, the broadcasting of ELF waves, Project Pegasus, Gray Aliens performing abductions as we sleep. The appeal of Barack Obama is so inexplicable that I am willing to entertain any explanation as to what makes this loser so appealing to so many.
The president is corrupt. He is tyrannical. His behavior is frequently criminal. He is an incompetent administrator and his personality would make sour milk taste like chocolate by comparison. Oh, but they love him.
Obama's Rasmussen approval rating is back to 52 % following his rescue of a woozy and weary pregnant woman. Why does Obama plant fainting women in his midst? Bullshit rules the day.
Is the embracing of bullshit a passing fad or a permanent change in the American character? The cynic in me is betting on the latter. In the words of Colonel Nathan R. Jessup, "You can't handle the truth!"
I see Kool-Aid and fainting women in our future.

The Case For Overwhelming Melancholy
Stupid people are depressing. Mobs of stupid people are frightening. A nation of stupid people invites despair.
According to Rasmussen, 38% of likely voters give Obama good or excellent marks on deficit reduction. Immigration, gun control, health care, etc., involve values and invite a certain amount of subjectivity. Not so deficit reduction. Numbers and only numbers determine one's success in reducing the deficit. Subjectivity in quantity usually involves deception, delusion, stupidity or fraud.
The President is on track to double our national debt. He will be eight for eight in running a deficit. His administration has run the largest deficits of any administration in US History. And yet, 38% of likely voters give him a thumbs up in deficit reduction. At least 38% of the population is blissfully ignorant of basic facts.
That must be some damn good Kool-Aid.

The Post That Became The Alcatraz Around My Neck
Channelling Mayor Thomas Menino today. You know him. He's a bit conspicuous with that Alcatraz around his neck. Sad but true, this figure of speech will follow His Honor's memory longer than his lifetime of public service to do City of Boston.
I tried once more to post something written and submitted to websites in 2007. Charts and tables on Blogger make this exercise an Alcatraz...let's just say it is time consuming.
First, I will take partial credit for the update from the 2007 version. Here goes.
I trust exactly two pollsters: Zogby and Rasmussen. Of the two, Rasmussen is more accurate and I have to question Zogby's integrity. As far as I know, Zogby has never doctored numbers but there was the Zeigler incident.
Shortly after the 2008 election, Filmmaker John Ziegler released "Media Malpractice: How Obama Got Elected and Palin Was Targeted." One of the premises of Ziegler's video is that the low-information voter carried the day for Obama. Yes, they were well-informed about which candidate had a daughter who had delivered a baby out of wedlock. But 57% of Obama voters were unaware that the Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress on election day. To confirm what everyone knew--that Obama's supporters were ignorant of basic facts--Ziegler hired Zogby to poll McCain and Obama supporters. http://obotomy.blogspot.com/2012/02/retro-thursday-infamous-zobgy-poll.html
Zogby suffered blowback from the Dems. He was threatened with a party boycott if he worked with Ziegler again. So just how much credibility does Zogby have?
Rasmussen's polls have me wondering if someone has dirty pictures of Scott. "Right Track" suddenly jumps fifty per cent and suddenly the consistent 3:2 repeal health vanishes. More than convention bounce if you ask me. So even my two favorite pollsters are viewed with a lens of suspicion. But they are still far and away better than the field.
I might actually finish this post but in the meantime, I refer you to two sites. The first is nolanchart.com, a website that cannot recognize parentheses and apostrophes. http://www.nolanchart.com/article667-the-bad-science-of-scientific-polling.html
Because the presentation is so awful with all of those silly special characters floating around, I submit a second site for the primary data. http://www.pollingreport.com/wh04dem.htm
If you are not put off by special characters or jumping from site to site, please connect the dots. In any event, I will summarize the results. In the 2004 Democratic Primaries, the pollsters were not even close. One poll had John Kerry collecting 7% of the vote three weeks before the New Hampshire Primary. This survey was not atypical by any means.
Point is, polls can be discouraging. They can even be demoralizing. They can also be used to procure donations for a floundering candidate. But the science of polling has a long way to go.
Is there a Jeremiah in the house? Not now, there isn't.

An Angle I Had Not Considered
I am channeling Scott Rasmussen here, a brilliant, brilliant man. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/political_commentary/commentary_by_scott_rasmussen/the_introduction_is_key_to_a_successful_romney_veep_pick
I am summarizing a couple of his articles, one of which was written prior to Ryan's selection as VP candidate. In essence, one of the most important qualities in selecting a running mate is their rame or if you prefer, recognizability. The problem with selecting a Portman is that 90% of the public does not know him. That means that CBS, NBC, ABC, AP, NPR would define (read smear) Portman for all but 10% of the public.
This is what happened to an unknown known as Sarah Palin. She is arguably the most successful governor in US history and Alaska is possibly the best managed state (if finances mean anything it is far and away the most successful state in US history) of all time. But facts afforded Palin no protection from character assassination. She was a blank canvas and the media turned her into a caricature of herself.
According to Rasmussen 39% have a favorable opinion of Paul Ryan and 25% have an unfavorable opinion. That means that the media only get to shape the opinions of 36% of the population. Ryan, therefore, is a safer bet than Portman.
http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections/election_2012/election_2012_presidential_election/august_2012/39_have_favorable_opinion_of_paul_ryan_25_unfavorable2
This was a smooth maneuver for Romney. Romney will be called a lot of names but "dumb ass" will not be one of them.

The Circular Firing Squad and Obama's Rising Poll Numbers
According to Rasmussen, Obama's favorability ratings have risen to their highest level since June 9, 2011 when the president was still riding the wave of the Bin Laden killing. The trend started at roughly the time when the GOP presidential candidates all went negative. The eleventh commandment be damned.
Newt was the last to jump in the sewer but when he did take the plunge, he splashed as wildly as anyone else. So much for being the elder statesman, the team leader, the Speaker, blah blah blah. I understand Gingrich's frustration at the attacks directed against him in Iowa. But in going negative, the Newtster lost his mojo.
Gingrich should have doubled down on his attacks against Obama and his media toadies. Instead, he attacked Bain Capital, the best attributes of Mitt Romney and the best values of conservatism. He blamed his Nevada loss on Mormons and called Romney a liar. Dohhh.
Cooler heads need to intervene. Romney can the president. Newt can be Secretary of State. Paul can be Secretary of the Treasury (or chairman of the Fed) and Santorum can get his own show on Fox.
Oh, and thank goodness Mr. vulture capitalism went back to Texas. He was a fool. Glad we vetted that guy.
Get back on your game, guys. You all do well when you point out the flaws in the current administration and the cowardice of his butt boys in the media. Axelrod is playing for keeps and the stakes are high. Another $5T (not to mention the off book entitlements) in debt and America will probably go the way of the dodo bird.
Please guys, climb out of the sewer.

Generic Republican Now Leads Obama By Eight Points.
This according to Rasmussen. No, I am not linking you to the most accurate pollster in America, the king of all polling, the man who transformer a bogus industry into a field now dotted with oracles. you should already be linked to Rasmussen.

Media Monday: 61 % Still Angry At biased Media
Most voters are still angry at the media, but they’re less convinced that the majority of reporters are biased in favor of President Obama.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 61% of Likely U.S. Voters are at least somewhat angry at the media, with 26% who are Very Angry. Thirty-six percent (36%) don’t share that anger, including 13% who are Not At All Angry at the media. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
This is only slightly less anger than voters expressed in June of last year as the midterm election season was heating up. It’s down a bit, too, from the 69% who express anger at the current policies of the federal government.

They're Reading My Mind With Microwaves Again!
Which past leader does Barack Obama most closely resemble? His admirers, not all of them liberals, used to compare him to Abraham Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt.
Well, Obama announced his candidacy in Lincoln's hometown two days before Abe's birthday, and he did expand the size and scope of government. But no one seriously compares him with Lincoln or FDR anymore.
Conservative critics have taken to comparing him, as you might imagine, to Jimmy Carter. The more cruel among them, like The Weekly Standard's Jay Cost, say the comparison is not to Obama's advantage.
But there is another comparison I think more appropriate for a president who, according to one of his foreign-policy staffers, prefers to "lead from behind." The man I have in mind is Chauncey Gardiner, the character played by Peter Sellers in the 1979 movie "Being There."
The Entire commentary can be read here.

Polling Redux
A good friend of mine, Hank Pyro, wrote an article on opinion polls at his now defunct website. It got some attention and nolanchart asked Hank to repost it on their site. We tried to post it here but the charts and graphs don't post right and it takes too long to troubleshoot. We are linking to nolanchart.com with a few disclaimers. Nolanchart cannot handle special characters (quotation marks and apostrophes.) It is a distraction but you can get the gist of it.
http://www.nolanchart.com/article667.html
The article was written prior to Hank's discovering Scott Rasmussen. Prior to Rasmussen, all public consumption polls were bullshit. Post Rasmussen, all public consumption polls not named Rasmussen are bullshit. Odd, but polls frequently favor the candidate endorsed by the pollsters. Case in point, "The Boston Globe" had Scott Brown trailing Martha Coakley (whom they endorsed) by 15 points about two weeks before their election.
Which brings us to the state of the art of political polling. I believe the pollsters are underselling the demise of the Democrats. Rasmussen is great but not all of his polling is for public consumption. He gives freebie snapshots. I cannot justify paying for his expertise.
Larry Sabato is a rival/chum/friend of Rasmussen. I thought Rasmussen had linked or posted some of Sabato's numbers but now I can't find those links. But here are Sabato's predictions:
http://www.centerforpolitics.org/crystalball/articles/category/2010-senate/
Sabato has the Indiana Senate race in a toss-up. Rasmussen has the Dem trailing three Republican candidates, two by double digits and one of those by eighteen points. From my correspondents in the Hoosier State I get the distinct impression that the Democrat is in big trouble.
Sabato has the GOP picking up 7 Senate seats and 27 House seats. Usual disclaimer, if the race was held today. But I think the Dems are in worse shape than that, especially in the House. In the coming weeks we will point out some Democratic soft spots that have not been acknowledged.

Excerpt: Obama's Kiss of Death
"When Obama made the decision to lay it on the line and campaign in Massachusetts, the race was a statistical dead heat, with surveys showing Coakley ahead by one or two points. By the time Obama had returned to Washington, D.C., Brown had opened up a nine-point lead – a margin even Obama’s vaunted union volunteer army and ACORN-led ground game would be unable to erase. "

The King of all Polling
Rasmussen was the most accurate pollster in the 2008 national elections. I like him for a number of reasons, one of which is his accuracy. But to paraphrase Tony Robbins, it's sometimes more about the questions than the answers. For instance a poll that asks if we are doing enough or not enough to combat global warming does not leave room for the answer that we think the whole subject is bunk. Are we on the right track or the wrong track? Have we gained ground or lost ground?
People actually get paid to ask really stupid questions to honest people. Rasmussen is a cut above the dunce cap brigade. He has isolated a group of elitists that he has labled "the political class." These are people who believe in government by experts. They would be considered a top down model of management. They believe that citizens are not particularly bright and need the constant, gentle guidance of enlightened entities. What Plato might have called philosopher bureaucrats. Rasmussen monitors this political demographic.
Here's Rasmussen:
The questions used to calculate the Index are:
-- Generally speaking, when it comes to important national issues, whose judgment do you trust more - the American people or America’s political leaders?
-- Some people believe that the federal government has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interests. Has the federal government become a special interest group?
-- Do government and big business often work together in ways that hurt consumers and investors?
In addition to monitoring overlooked demographics, Rasmussen monitors topics like people's belief in man made global warming. Oh, and while we are on the subject, check out the pampered president's approval ratings. They have consistently dropped a point per week since his inauguration.
