Bye Bye Shepherd Smith

There are two kinds of people who hate Fox News. Those who have never watched the network and those that have. Put me in the latter category.

I vehemently reject the notion that Fox News presented an alternative viewpoint to the mainstream media. Will few exceptions, they parroted the mainstreamers and they largely promoted the same agenda. My rough estimate is that 80% of their programming in 2016 was either Pro-Hillary or Anti-Trump.

My list of grievances, criticisms and corrections with and of Fox News is long and life is short. So let's leave Brett Baier and The Five and Outnumbered and the endless manifestations of Greg Gutfeld and the whole dork parade of overpaid buffoons aside and focus on but one overpaid buffoon: Shepherd Smith.

For 23 years Shepherd Smith has had 10 hours a week to speak falsely and rest assured, he took full advantage of the opportunities presented. That is 10x the time Janine Pirro is given. It is twice as much time as Tucker Carlson is allotted. Next to the early bird fluff news peeps, Shepherd had more screen time than anyone.

Smith was the face and the soul of Fox news. For 23 years he badmouthed Republicans, conservatives, tea-partiers, Trump Nation and any other non-Democrat. Falsity, half-truth, willful omission of significant detail, character assassination...Smith was a journalist's journalist. He could outpropagandize CNN in 1/3 the time.

When I heard recently that Shepherd Smith got canned, I was pleased. Fox News is not salvageable in my view but if they want to redeem themselves, this is a good start.

Following the Smith bye-bye, Project Veritas is releasing some great CNN hidden camera work. On the same day, ABC News is caught using footage taken at a Kentucky gun range to prosecute Trump's latest atrocity, his alleged genocide of the Kurdish people. I live for moments like this.

Bye bye Shepherd. Go count your money. Go write your memoirs. Go live the good life. But go! Go! Please go!

Life is good.

My Latest Obsession Has Taken Over My Life

I spend much too much time reviewing Election 2016 coverage. I have to cut back for a while.

It's more than pure nostalgia at play here. There is a Youtube 22 or so minute recap of the last Super Bowl. I have watched that at least a dozen times. That is an exercise in unadulterated nostalgia. Election night is a horse of a different color.

Yes, there is some reliving of an adventure and there is some schadenfreude, of course, but there is so much more. We sometimes ask if the fourth estate are liars, idiots or both. Most of us say both. Yet, the self-professed experts--to the person--seem genuinely fooled, even shocked, by the events of November 8. I guess if you live in a bubble...

On Hoosierman's recommendation, I watched 6 hours of ABC's coverage of this historic night. It was intriguing. These arrogant know-it-alls put Trump in the past tense early on. They were downright giddy, pointing out Trump's many errors. Then, lightning struck.

In fairness, ABC saw the inevitable fairly early on. I also have to extend reluctant praise to ABC for coming up with a snazzy presentation. Reluctant praise also for George Stephanopolis, who despite his obvious partisanship, did a great job of moving the ball around.

I don't expect you to watch all six hours but you might get hooked like I did. In case you want some highlights:

Nate Silver initially puts Hillary at 71% and later bumps her up to 78%. Around 3:16:27 he has Trump at 78%.

When the tide turned there were the usual charges of bad temperment, MAGA stupidity and so on. Cokie Roberts suggests that the disaffected were those left behind by technological advances. No, Cokie, coal miners, steel, workers, oil field workers, pipeline builders want to UNLEASH technology. It is Washington that has left them behind.

There is a humorous comment by Matthew Dowd circa 5:21;;00 where he rails against Trump's disrespect for the press.

BTW, J. D. Vance nails it at 5:23;30.

ABC

Jonesing for more, I watched most of CBS's coverage. It was dowdier, they waited much longer to call the results, and it was chockful of charges of "racial animus." By comparison, ABC was downright evenhanded. I took notes and in retrospect, I wonder why I did so.

There are some humorous moments. CBS tells us that Florida is in a dead heat. They switch away to Clinton HQ and the correspondent tells us that the mood has changed since Florida was called for Trump. She switches back to CBS HQ and they continue the Florida is too close to call bs.

I got to get back to life. No more media analysis for a while.

Will Nate Silver Come Out Of The Idiot Closet?

Or is that even necessary at this point?

CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS GUY DOES THIS FOR A LIVING?

DIDN'T YOU WRITE "THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO IDIOCY?"

OH, IT'S NOT FOOLPROOF?

TRUMP SHOULD TURN OFF THE LIGHTS AT HIS HEADQUARTERS

THE COMMENTS ARE EVEN HARSHER THAN THAT TEENAGE CENK

Bad Omen For Clinton: Bill Is Heckled BY BLM The Day Before The Election

At least he had an audience. And there were no "Bill Clinton Is A Rapist" placards. But I thought Chelsea married George Soros' nephew.

BTW, the comments at Youtube are not excessively polite (snicker.)

HIS LAST STUMP SPEECH?

A Sizable Majority Wants Hillary Indicted

Not sure how these numbers might change if Comey recommends indictment for perjury stemming from her testimony in front of Congress. Also, should the FBI director recommend indictment for public corruption associated with the Clinton Foundation, the needle might move a bit.

An ABC/WaPo Poll reveals that 56% of Americans support Hillary's indictment vs. 35% support amnesty for Madam Secretary.

It gets worse for Hills and Company. 6 out of 10 Independents want her indicted vs. 9 out of 10 Republicans and even 3 out of 10 Democrats.

Rasmussen released a poll last week with similar results.

Stossel on Health Care: Part 1

Ahhh, these might be the good old days. Kind of like the early days of Napster. How long will some of these golden nuggets be posted before some executive decides to remove them. Stossel is an outcast at his own network and it is conceivable that pro-Obama ABC might selectively protect their network's copyright.

This is timely and it hits home hard. We are posting the entire show until some end of life counselor or some members of SEIU tells us to remove it. Watch it while you can.

ABC and Obama, Part 1

Item: ABC employees donated 32 times more to the Obama campaign than they donated to McCain's campaign.

This coming June 24, ABC will host Obamapalooza. Diane Sawyer will kick things off with an Obama interview on "Good Morning America." Charles Gibson will anchor "World News" from the White House Blue Room. Gibson and Sawyer will then anchor a two hour prime time infomercial for Obama's health care plan. They will break for the local news and wrap up the day with a discussion of Obama's health care plan on "Nightline." I bet some Tivos will be working overtime.

Significantly, The Republican National Committee has been denied any input into the debate and has been denied any rebuttal. http://www.opposingviews.com/articles/opinion-abc-news-shills-for-obama-s-health-care-reform-r-1245261967
