Idolatry Versus Ideology
Idolatry Versus Ideology
The news media do not usually cover news media. They are a club. They are perhaps the most insular profession in America. There might be pecking orders and rivalries and jealousy but they are good at keeping their grievances in-house. They like to refer to one another as colleagues.
Bernard Goldberg reminds us that there is no secret handshake. None is needed. In this finely-screened guild, dissidents are not recruited or welcomed. They often graduate from good schools but nonetheless they do have dimwits in their ranks. They are not necessarily stupid but they will consciously promote stupidity when duty calls.
Members of the news media are haughty and cavalier and every word in the thesaurus for both haughty and cavalier accurately describes them. No exceptions. They are parochial and provincial and every word in the thesaurus for both parochial and provincial accurately describes them. No exceptions.
Smugly superior, tirelessly loyal to their clan, secular in the extreme. Secularists are notoriously vulnerable to cult leaders. Offbeat religions have much better success recruiting at Harvard or Yale than at Brigham Young or Oral Roberts. The Cult of Obama would find the ranks of the secularist media to be their Happy Hunting Ground.
Observers might denounce media bias but they often mistake loyalty to proper noun for loyalty to principle. In the case of Barack Obama, idolatry is often mistaken for ideology. The Obamacist media practice unconditional love for their beloved leader.
A purely objective press has never existed. We have discussed press prejudices and how they have evolved over time. Yes, there has always been a bias against dissent, an endorsement of pack journalism for the good of the pack. What was absent until 2008 was an ongoing consensus on behalf of matters related to one man and his agenda.
The news media might have been chummy and sniffy but they were also independent. Even during times of war—World War II being the possible exception—news media expressed diverse viewpoints. That is no longer the case.
“Mysticism is unifying. Reason is divisive. “ So says Thomas Szasz. Ideology has its limits. An idea as simple as “the government should help the poor” immediately encounters an obstacle course. How do we help the poor? Should we first help those who help themselves? Should we first help those who cannot help themselves? Should we first help those who will not help themselves in hopes of lifting their spirits? Should we help poor people find work or just give them cash? Would it be better to give poor people food stamps and free education and subsidized housing than to give them cash? Should we help intact families more than single mothers or vice versa? Reason divides.
George Patton said, “If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.” To that, our news media reply in unison “Yes we can!” For many journalists, Obamacism is their first religious experience. For most journalists, Barack Obama is the only deity they love and revere. For all members of the Fourth Estate, Obamacism is the only religion that matters.
Issues do not matter to the Obamacist. Candidate Obama excoriated President Bush for his profligacy, “two wars on a credit card...Bank of China credit card...” more references to credit cards, calling deficits unpatriotic, etc. President Obama would ultimately spend more rapidly and more recklessly than any president in history, arguably with little or nothing to show for it. The press are behind their deity all the way, They are zealots, not ideologues.
President Obama bears no resemblance to Candidate Obama in 2008 or even Candidate Obama in 2012 when the press adroitly assisted the incumbent in running against his own record. Republicans. The Tea Party. Congress. His rivals who acted as rivals. Rush Limbaugh. These entities all served as scapegoats for the Administration's ongoing failure. Never is anything the president's fault. Never.
The Obamacist media mob praised the Affordable Care Act without reading it. Through executive order and Secretarial fiat, the ACA morphed and shape shifted and evolved into something much different from its legislative form. The chorus backed their deity every step of the way. Changes in law were but words on paper. Love and worship of their leader is all that mattered.
Previous executives waffled or flip-flopped. Barack Obama pivots and grows and evolves. Never indecisive, always reflective. One Obamacist even coined a term to prop up their divinity: He leads from behind. Unconditional love. Unending loyalty. Consensus achieved.
Obamacism is a media-created, media-generated, media-fed religion. A land of skeptics found its savior. Finally, there was someone worthy of their deference. We will examine the techniques of persuasion and deception that made Obamacism possible. We need to reemphasize Obamacism's universal support from the Fourth Estate. Their unanimous, total and unending loyalty has made the impossible a reality.

Obots' Unconditional Love For Their Leader
This blog started in late 2008 to denounce the frightening religious devotion to Barack Obama. At the time I thought Obamamania would be a passing fad. I was wrong.
In the wake of a deadly VA scandal, the roll out of a new war on coal and a jihadists for deserter trade that would leave even leftist pundits scratching their heads, one would think that Barack Obama's numbers would plummet. His approval rating is 50% at Rasmussen.
We underestimate the cultist loyalty that surrounds Obama. I thought given his disastrous first term, a term that would that would make Jimmy Carter and Herbert Hoover look good by comparison and would qualify Obama as one of the two or three worst presidents in US History, the cultists might turn on their exalted leader. Wrong!
I thought that the Benghazi scandal might change a few minds. I thought the revelations of 2013, where Lois Lerner publicly confirmed that the IRS had been weaponized and might have tipped the scales in the 2012 election and that the NSA and the White House spied on both honest citizens and honest reporters, might be a tipping point. Wrong!
Never before have we seen a politician whose career has been defined entirely by scandal and ineptitude. Yes, he killed Bin Laden. Got anything else? Anything? Anything at all? It has been an endless parade of Solyndras and Fast and Furiouses and malfunctioning websites and absurd deficits. 50% approval.
Obots cannot and will not face facts. They don't have to and you can't make them! NaNaNaNa! They will defriend anyone who says something unfavorable about their deity. They will block the channel that maybe, just maybe, will criticize him. They will leave the room when someone says something not overtly worshipful about their leader. 50% approval! Unconditional love!
I have heard callers on radio shows suggest that the megalomaniac will extra-legally try for a third term. He will not give up power so easily. I have friends who have echoed this fear. That used to seem like irrational paranoia. No longer.
Barack Obama knows that he is infallible in the eyes of his followers. He is emboldened. 50% approval!
We are all in danger!

Piling It Higher Than Anyone Thought Possible
The poignant and sagacious David Remnick once more.
Obama’s election was one of the great markers in the black freedom struggle.
I respectfully disagree with the prose hose. Barack Obama's career has nothing to do with black freedom any more than Selma had to do with his conception. This is the story of a con artist being elevated to cult leader. Please, Mr. Remnick, please show us a black person whose freedom has increased under Obama. How did the "black freedom struggle" rise with Barack Obama's fortunes?
The popular opposition to the Administration comes largely from older whites who feel threatened, underemployed, overlooked, and disdained in a globalized economy and in an increasingly diverse country.
You might also add that we resent being lied to with a fervor and frequency and impunity such as we have never before witnessed. We also don't like doubling and trebling of health care premiums. We also have a distaste for IRS harrassment and I for one dislike quantitative easing. And I will add, anyone who can type is intensely jealous of illiterates like David Remnick who land cushy jobs at "The New Yorker" for piling it higher and deeper.
“There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President,”
And some of us dislike you because you are an overgrown pansy. Yes, it demeans the presidency to dismiss legitimate criticism as racism. But worse in my eyes, playing the race card is chickenshit. You are supposed to be a leader. Compared to George Bush, your criticism is padded and sugar-coated and virtually nonexistent. When it does raise its gentle, apologetic head, it gets hammered down with the racist sledge hammer. Mr. President, will you ever be a man?
Tea Party at Perrysburg was able to wade through 23% of this sludge. She is a better blogger than me. I endured about 15% and I feel like I need a shower. Someone else can swim through the rest of this muck.

Piling It Higher And Deeper
Is this our future? Will "Poor, Poor Barack" stories dominate the world of print? The high-minded, idealistic saint butting heads with the vestiges of power. Can a mini-series ve far behind?
Usually, Obama spends Sundays with his family. Now he was headed for a three-day fund-raising trip to Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, rattling the cup in one preposterous mansion after another. The prospect was dispiriting.
How long can we choke back the tears? Yes, he could have stayed in that cabin on the Potomac and toiled in the job he was elected to do but Barry had to be amongst his people. Poor, poor Barack.
“At the back end of his career, I see him as an international and national community organizer.”
Is that what we call a latter day Jim Jones?
“I don’t see him locked up in a room writing all the time. His capacity to crank stuff out is amazing. When he was writing his second book, he would say, ‘I’m gonna get up at seven and write this chapter—and at nine we’ll play golf.’ I would think no, it’s going to be a lot later, but he would knock on my door at nine and say, ‘Let’s go.’
In other words, he used a ghost writer and will use a ghost in the future?
The question is whether Obama will satisfy the standard he set for himself.
This is just page two of eighteen, folks.
His biggest early disappointment as President was being forced to recognize that his romantic vision of a post-partisan era, in which there are no red states or blue states, only the United States, was, in practical terms, a fantasy.
But what did he find enchanting?
The structures of American division came into high relief once he was in office.
But Barry was never, ever, ever, ever divisive?
The Republican Party is living through the late-mannerist phase of that revolution, fuelled less by ideas than by resentments.
And if they did have ideas, they would not be considered.
Rejection is all. Obama can never be opposed vehemently enough.
We tried to choke back the tears. The floodgates are opened and we are now treading water in the briny swells. Poor, poor Barack.
Two pages is all I can do today, folks. Maybe after I drink lots of water and the eyes have sated their reservoirs, maybe, just maybe I can view this saga anew. Poor, poor Barack.

Bullshit Unlimited
I am trying to read David Remnick's 'New Yorker' puff without getting sick. Almost every paragraph drips with questions like "Why doesn't everyone love him?" and "Why doesn't everyone love him more?"
One of the enduring mysteries of the Obama years is that so many members of the hyper-deluxe economy—corporate C.E.O.s and Wall Street bankers—have abandoned him.
Then we are told of how great our economy is and it's followed up by:
Obama bruised some feelings once or twice with remarks about “fat-cat bankers” and “reckless behavior and unchecked excess,” but, in general, he dares not offend.
Say what? You didn't build that. Obama is not just chronically offensive, it is his intent to offend. His life and words are an ongoing tribute to the attack politics of Saul Alinsky.
I can't finish the hagiography just yet. I am off to the dentist. That should be less painful.

Obama Worship Is Alive And Well: Son Of Promise, Child Of Hope
This blog covers a multitude of subjects but it was started by a miffed and confused and frightened observer who was trying hard to understand the deification of a petty human being of minuscule talent. This was not the elevation of Ray Kurzweil or Steve Jobs or some other accomplished individual. Quite the opposite.
We are still concerned about the rise of the most successful religious-political cult in the history of Planet Earth. It is too burdensome and too demoralizing to track this all of the time. However, we do feel the need to check in now and then.
The faithful have made another play in where else, our public schools. Once again, Barack Obama has been identified as the messiah.

A new lesson plan for American school students, offered on an open marketplace for educators, is reprising what some devout followers have called Barack Obama for several years already – a messiah.
Created by Sherece Bennett, it’s based on the book “Barack Obama: Son of Promise, Child of Hope” by Nikki Grimes.
Kyle Olson reported the plan on his Education Action Group website, commenting that it casts Obama “in a messianic light. Literally.”

Blame Bush!
The Kool-Aid kids can never hold their messiah accountable for anything. Never mind that the Dem's controlled both houses of Congress from 2006 to 2010. It's all Bush's fault!

Thank You Card To IRS
The worship continues! There is this idea that if we just get rid of the biggest tumor, the patient will be OK. I disagree. A new variety of fundamentalism has taken hold of America. (Fundamentalism being defined as a system of immutable thought.)
Rush Limbaugh, of course, equates the new fundamentalism with liberalism but liberalism has an intellectual foundation. Obamaism has no intellectual foundation. Obama is god. Obama is good. All who oppose, resist or criticize are evil. Rule of law is passe.
If the most widespread abuse of power in US History--so pervasive that it corrupts the exercise of democracy and illegally influenced hundreds of elections--does not offend the zealots, will martial law bother them? Will martial law be dismissed as one more fake scandal? Will they be sending thank you's to the civil servants who run concentration camps? A lot of us are afraid to answer those questions.
The story of Barack Hussein Obama is part Orwell, part "Twilight Zone," part Jonestown and part "Invasion of The Body Snatchers." Obama has made rational appeals to certain special interest groups (the legal profession, unions, teachers, illegal immigrants to name a few) but Obama voters are largely irrational. That is not a patronizing assessment nor is it a snide commentary about people who do not share my political views. It is simply reaffirming the obvious: Barack Obama's ongoing political campaign rarely, if ever, appeals to the voter's rational faculties. For non-members of special interest groups, supporting Barack Obama is a non-rational undertaking.
Obama followers cannot articulate their love anymore than a teenager can explain her first crush. It is visceral, not analytical. It is based not on reason, but sentiment. For many, the ardor blossomed into full blown religious expression. Fools like me underestimated the breadth and depth of Obama worship. It is real. It is too real.
This blog started out chronicling displays of Obama worship. We joked about Obama worship but we didn't literally mean it. Those idiots in 2008, they were just caught up in the moment, right? Wrong! The worship was and is literal. As genuine as Jonestown.
I wrongly thought I could change people's minds by showcasing folly in the extreme. I posted dozens of disturbing videos of silly Obama supporters. Sadly, I barely scratched the surface. There are hundreds of Youtube videos of fools bowing down to a hollow man they do not know and don't care to know. Who needs facts when one is showered with a bounty of such splendid iconography?
Somewhere along the way this blogger felt that he had made his point. Yes, the cult of Obama was as creepy as it gets. The fundamentalists would still bow down to their messiah. Can't save the mindless, no. But most Obama voters would distance themselves from the Kool-Aid cult if only to retain a measure of self-respect. Wrong! 2012.
An aside. The 2008 election made me rethink the merits of organized religion. We are a religious species. If we don't find a sane outlet for our religiosity, we might end up following a sleazy-cheesy community organizer whose real intentions are shrouded in mystery.
Religion by its very nature requires the participant to think in a pararational manner. Fully engage one's knowledge to its limits and then defer to faith. There were guard rails in place. Idolatry was strictly prohibited. The exercise of religion did not license one to practice self-delusion as a preferred lifestyle.
It is imperative that opponents of Barack Obama come to grips with reality. It is time we face the ugly truth. Let us acknowledge the obvious:
1. The worship of Barack Obama is literal.
2. The cult of Barack Obama is colossal. Humanity has never before witnessed a religious cult that has snared so many, so fast. The ramifications have largely been ignored.
3. The worship of Barack Obama is by no means spontaneous. From fainting women to the Obama Halo, from the rewritten spirituals that praise the new messiah to the hypnotic speeches void of content, the deification of Barack Obama is deliberate and it is contrived. Look closely and you will see the marionette's strings and the steely determination written on the faces of skillful puppet masters.
4. Obama fundamentalists, as with other fundamentalists, cannot be swayed with logic. They will not and cannot "come to their senses."
5. Obama worshipers are dangerous people.
6. A personality that embraces his own deification is a dangerous human being! This can never be under emphasized.

The Worship Continues
This website produced a much better video on this subject http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_-n2ehZsAc but the foolishness kept right on coming.
Jamie Foxx and the editors of "Newsweek" and creepy brainwashed children should keep you awake at night. Unless you drank the Kool-Aid.
The most disturbing aspect of Obama worship is that he has never resisted it. He never said "hey you are embarrassing me" or asked the sycophants to tone it down. No, he has been an active participant in his deification. He is comfortable with his God complex.
IS OBAMA GOD? 52 PER CENT SAY YES!

Whither The Obot?
Houston, we have a problem. Sixty two thousand Americans worshipping a cult figure would be a news story. Sixty two million Americans worshipping a cult leader is the new normal.
This is not the return of Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter or FDR. Nope. This is more like Jim Jones rising from the grave and snaking his way into the White House.
Whither the Obot? Is his loyalty unending? Is his love unconditional? Is his faith in his messiah unyielding? The answers seem to be yes, yes and yes.
The human race has a long history of leader worship and the leaders always prove themselves to be human and unworthy of adoration. The faithful always look stupid in retrospect. Oh but the bliss they knew at the time!
The American spirit was traditionally skeptical of kings and emperors and wannabe messiahs. Times have changed.
These things do not usually end well. I suspect this mass idolatry will also crash and burn. But don't let me kill your buzz.
WHEN REALITY LAMPOONS PARODY, WE ARE ALL IN TROUBLE
