Repost: Music To My Ears
The preceding post was the only time Bloggger has given me a hard time: I struggled and struggled to change the font size and it would only allow me to do it in portions. Of course the fonts were displayed in uniform size as I viewed the text I had written. Oy vey!
Music: vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.
I have discussed that I gave up a lot of old pastimes in 2008: Recreational reading, movies (my interest went from waning to waned) spectator sports and lastly, music. That last one was unexpected of course. But so many of my pop heroes had gone Jonestown with Obama and if that does not destroy one's artistic integrity, I don't know what would.
I have mentioned my habit of playing Youtube videos of election night news coverage. I don't watch these vids the way I would watch a TV show. I mostly listen as background noise, or more accurately, background music.
These are seven-hour operas. Very formulaic and yet, all very different. The first hour or two on EVERY network is the condemnation of Donald Trump, the demise of the Republican Party, the certitude of an impending Hillary coronation, and questions about how Hillary will govern.
In Act 2, the tension starts to build. Slowly but surely, by hour 4 there is universally, a change of mood and tone in the newsroom: Maybe the Dems won't take the Senate after all. The presidency might not be as big a landslide as we predicted. Trump has a chance. A tornado just hit the Macy's Parade!
As the evening wears on, the artists go free form and start playing from the heart, conductor be damned. They tell us what they really think about their social inferiors who voted for Trump. The race card gives way to the racist card. And yes, there are tears.
A few observations: Pack journalism has given way to hive journalism. One reason the pundits all sound the same is that there are so damn few of them. I guess once you get your talking heads card, you will never again be out of work. Even the British networks recycle the same blah blah people I saw when I used to watch Fox News.
ITV is a private UK broadcasting network, They are more overtly anti-Trump than the pretend-to-be-unbiased Americans and twice as nasty.
Sky News is also British. They have the dullest presentation bar none. It is tough to plow through this performance.
Yahoo is anchored by Katie Couric. I will say that she is a pro and handles the anchor with poise and charm. Unfortunately, she is still Katie Couric. You might tune in early to see Frank Luntz's predictions and his denouncement of the GOP now that he has joined CBS.
For a change of pace, Never-Trumpers from The Blaze provide an interesting variation on a theme. Anyone who says Democrats have a monopoly on smug never met a Never-Trumper. Tomi Lahren, a Trump supporter, steals the show. Beck is funny for proclaiming Hillary's victory and later hedging his bets while stating that he predicted Trump's victory long ago if this and that and that and this and the stars align and...I know money is tight at The Blaze but they might consider getting themselves a sound engineer or at least spring for a few more microphones.
Propaganda is ugly but failed propaganda is art. Sit back and enjoy an art form such as we might never again witness. This is music to my ears.

BTW: Project Veritas Vids Both Receiving One Million + Views Per Day.
Oh, and co-conspirator, James Creamer, visited the White House 342 times and met with POTUS 40 times. That's a lot of Easter egg rolls.
James O'Keefe reported earlier this week that turncoat, Glenn Beck, is not returning his call. Too busy focusing on his principles, I suppose. It isn't easy being the reincarnation of George Washington.

Beck Nails The Government Shutdown Fiasco
I generally shy away from Glenn Beck and Fox News and outlets that already have an audience. But I am doing two Beck posts in one week. This is a wonderful summary of the pain and misery Obama and the Democrats inflicted on innocent people. Still, the press served as the Dems' loyal puppets.
Obama is a bully, a thug and quite possibly, a sociopath.
CAN WE GET THE PRESIDENT ANOTHER NOBEL PRIZE?

Glenn Beck Tells A Story He Has Kept Under Wraps For A Year
I don't think this is Beck's BIG announcement but it is big enough. There is a civil war within the GOP that I would gladly defer until Barry is gone. Not sure it will wait.

Now That CNN Has Defected From The 'Rage Brought On By A Youtube Video A Few Dozen People Watched' Coalition...
On November 9 of last year, I posted a Glenn Beck video wherein Beck he states that the real story behind Benghazi is that the CIA (or rogue elements of CIA) were running guns to Syrian rebels. The original post was entitled "To Be Taken With A Grain of Salt But Certainly More Fact-Based Than The Romney Smears"
Then, as now (and as long as I breathe) I was embittered by the ignoble and dishonest means in which Obama defeated Romney. In short, he did what he always does. He lied and he lied maliciously. Then as now, I believe we should take the high road of honesty but we had to be more negative. Negative falsehoods won the country for Obama and his band of compulsive liars. We should be negative but truthful.
But I digress. I probably would not have posted the vid prior to the election because Beck is not revealing his sources and his claims seemed far-fetched. However, as I have previously noted, Beck's claims were more worthy of daylight than the blatant falsehoods Obama spread against Mitt Romney. So in light of CNN's recent revelations (talk about a shock wave but then again the election is long gone) I decided to repost the Beck video.
As is often the case, the video disappeared from Youtube. Happens all the time. This might be a slightly longer version than the original.
.
Beck's assertions remind me of the JFK assassination in that the theories cancel each other out. You cam have Cubans OR the Mafia but you cannot have Cubans AND the Mafia. The president was either derelict of duty or perhaps he just has a soft spot for Muslim terrorists and thus provided the stand down order. However, if the president was up to his neck in gun running, it would seem that he would have done whatever needed to be done to aggressively subdue the attack.
I believed that the president, for whatever reason, could not be bothered with a distraction so trivial and as a result of his indifference, four Americans died. Wasn't this evening in Benghazi referred to as a 'bump in the road?' Thus, I was dismissive of Glenn Beck's gun running accusation.
Then came January and Rand Paul grills Secretary of State Clinton. I was watching the hearing live and my jaw dropped when Paul asked Hillary about Benghazi being a staging area for gun running. Watch this video.
Hillary seems to be taken aback by the direct questioning. She then answers in what might seem to be a non-perjurious manner. But ultimately she denied any knowledge of gun running. Rand Paul took some heat for roughing up his social superior and for getting his questions from the blogosphere. Once more, the blogosphere (and Glenn Beck) are way ahead of the curve.
After Paul's grilling I anxiously awaited for Benghazi to unravel. I thought by now Congress would have some answers. I heard all sorts of rumors about the Republicans slowing down the investigation to time its conclusion closer to the 2014 election. We were all growing impatient.
Now CNN has broken a CIA covert operations story. Part of me wants to cheer but the better part is saying "what's their angle?" Are they trying to Benghazi off the table once before the 2014 elections? Are they going to scapegoat rogue agents who defied our noble leaders? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
We are approaching the one year anniversary of the massacre. Maybe, just maybe, CNN or Congress or Glenn Beck will connect the dots for us. I can dream, can't I?

This Is Kind Of Glenn Beckish But...
Understand, I like Glenn Beck but I am still waiting for that big announcement. Whatever that might be, it is not as important as his latest vanity project which seems to be the topic of discussion last few times I listened to him.
Canada Free Press has served up a double dose of paranoia. All conspiracies are plausible at this point.

Has Glenn Beck Jumped The Shark?
I respect Glenn Beck for his courage and his honesty. And I have to admit that I watched Fox News more when he was the evening lead off (Man, do I loathe the insipid, inane, contrived, predictable "The Five." We Want Beck!!!) And I certainly respect him for wanting to start his own news service from the ground up. But Glenn...
A couple of days ago Beck announced that within 24 hours he would have an announcement that would bring the power structure to its knees. The clock ran out and there was no announcement. Thanks for jerking us around, big guy.
After the April 15 Boston bombing Beck was going to release earth shattering information about a Saudi national who happened to be a student in Boston. The student was originally a person of interest but was cleared by the authorities. As I recall Beck did reveal a few degrees of separation between the Saudi national and some jihad advocates but the dots were never connected.
Years ago, Geraldo Rivera opened Al Capone's vault on prime time television. It was empty. Geraldo took some some ribbing for that one and he has laughed about it over the years. Significantly, Rivera never made claims that anything of supreme import was contained in the safe. He hyped the opening, the safe was opened and the results were anticlimactic.
Beck on the other hand, alludes to the known content that will be revealed right before your very eyes. And then he does not open the safe. Fool us once Glenn, shame on you. Fool us twice and you're still more honest and forthright than any member of the mainstream media but you ain't what you used to be.
Put up or shit up, Glenn.

Wild Card Wednesday: Glenn Beck In Israel
Glenn Beck is running circles around everyone: journalism competitors, political enemies, political allies, rival pundits. He is leaving all of them in the dust. Who foresaw his upcoming Jerusalem rally? No one ot anmed Glenn Beck.
Personally, I like Glenn Beck. He might just turn out to be this era's H. L. Mencken. Limbaugh could have seized that honor but he instead chose to play the us vs. them game. The liberal vs. conservative model is still highly profitable and who can argue with Limbaugh's marketability?
But Beck charted a different course starting in 2009. Whereas Limbaugh, Hannity. Levin, et al, mostly cheer for proper nouns, Beck advanced principles. True, Hannity and Limbaugh did some revisionism and retroactively criticized the Republicnas who held power from 2000 to 2006. They embraced the Tea Party and found time to appreciate fiscal conservatism.
For many of us, it was too little too late. Beck, meanwhile, addressed CPAC and warned the audience about The Republican Party. Principle over party. Principle over proper noun. For the life of me, I don't know why the lefties hate him. He is as hard on conservatives/Republicans as he is the Obama Administration. If there is an idea he has advanced above all others, that idea would probably be transparency. But the lefties love to hate and they are not always selective about their favorite activity.
So Glenn Beck is promoting a media event in Jerusalem to show his support for Israel. The lefties are once more enraqed. I wanted to provide a snippet of partisan commnetary. Once more, READ THE COMMENTS! Even in the hardcore authoritarian publications, the readers' comments do not always line up with writers. One more reason to love the Internet.
First up, "The Jewish Daily Forward" and the cranky Noam Sheizaf.
Glenn Beck is in Israel, again. In July, the talk radio host and former Fox News star was invited to the Kensset, where he met “a room full of admirers” — in the words of a Channel 1 report — led by Likud MK Danny Danon. Beck urged Israelis to stand strong; among those shaking his hand was Baruch Marzel, former chairman of the outlawed Kach movement. Yet it seems that this honor wasn’t enough for Beck, who is back for a couple of Israeli rallies this week under the name of “Restoring Courage.”
Americans are by now very familiar with the wild and irresponsible side of politics that Beck represents. Beck stokes hate among ethnic groups and pays little respect to democratic traditions in his own country, let alone in the rest of the world. Many of his comments in recent years have bordered on anti-Semitic. He embraced anti-Semitic writers, and all but one name on his list of “enemies of America and humanity” were Jews. Those were still mild references compared with the language Beck uses against liberals — and Jews are the most liberal group in America. Beck is toxic: Even Fox News got that, and eventually dumped him. If you were representing a company and your product was in trouble, Beck would have been the last public relations man on earth you’d call. Yet this is exactly what Israel has done.

Beck also offends "The Christian Science Monitor."
Just as the Fonz's days were numbered the moment he jumped over a shark-infested pen on his summer trip to California (I originally misidentified the infamous shark-jump as having taken place in Hawaii, thanks to readers for pointing out the error), Mr. Beck is in danger of alienating a large section of his target audience on his coming vacation.
The 600 or so tickets for the event at Jerusalem's Davidson Center are sold out, but Beck has been eager to get large numbers of Israelis and foreigners to turn out for a public broadcast. He's not making that task any easier for himself. While Beck often proclaims his love for Israel and Israelis, a recent broadcast makes it clear that he views a vast swath of the Israeli public with contempt.

The comments are fairly balanced.
"The Atlantic" is a little more balanced but of course the dissenting commentors are dismissed as trollers.
CAESARIA, Israel -- The tears came early for Glenn Beck. Holding a bible in his hand, his eyes moistened and his voice cracked only moments after he took the stage at the ancient Roman amphitheater of Caeseria, Israel in front of a crowd of nearly 3,000 on Sunday. Beck paced the stage, praising the righteous Gentiles of history who saved Jews from anti-Semitism, and spoke of the greatness of the Jewish people and the need to "love the Jewish people as they are."
Standing on the ancient ruins, Beck also spoke of what he called Jews' "2,000 year old flinch," which makes them shy away from affection from Gentiles (including, presumably, himself) because of "not just the Holocaust, but it's [persecution of Jews] happened over and over and over again."
http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2011/08/glenn-becks-ambivalent-welcome-in-israel/243917/
In fairness, Media Matters and PuffHo have done a superior job of maintaining idealogical purity in their comments sections. There, Beck is still an ignorant hate monger. Elsewhere, the crowds are a little less manageable.

In fairness, Media Matters and PuffHo have done a superior job of maintaining idealogical purity in their comments sections. There, Beck is still an ignorant hate monger. Elsewhere, the crowds are a little less manageable.

Media Monday: The Glenn Beck Fallout
When it seems our news media cannot be sillier, they outdo themselves. Glenn Beck threw them a curve with his "Restoring Honor" rally. I have to admit that I don't understand what the rally was all about. But I don't feel the need to interject snide remarks at every turn.
This calm before the storm reminds me of the week or two before the ongoing backlash against Sarah Palin. She had displayed the audacity to point out flaws in The Chosen One at the Republican National Convention. There was a dog staring at the gramophone moment where the press looked for leadership. A couple of weeks later the press had circled its wagons and had launched an ongoing character assassination that follows Palin to this day.
Give them a couple of weeks and the campaign against Beck will run in high gear. Hate speech, blah blah blah. For now, they are still searching for an Achilles Heel. Beck has a few of them and if you don't know about them yet, you soon will.
Gleaned from the MSM. First, The "LA Times." http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2010/08/social-media-wrap-glenn-beck-rally-sarah-palin-light-up-google-realtime.html
...joint rally on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial that pledged to "restore honor" to, er, something or someone or other."
You can't simply report the news, can you? You have to editorialize. You're one the reasons Beck's there in the first place, because you traded journalism for idealogy. If Obama ever stops suddenly, your nose will be right up his butt.

Sports writer turned know it all, Mike Lupica mnages to slam the Palin family. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2010/08/30/2010-08-30_shock_jock_has_a_dream_pick_king_moment_rally_tea_baggers_restore_honor_to_us_gl.html?page=1
Then, of course, there is Palin, the pompom girl for pep rallies like Saturday's, telling the crowd that she's an even better American than we knew because, well, she raised a combat veteran.
She did. Her son fights for his country and what he believes and good for him. But really Palin should have been talking about her daughter Bristol, on her way to "Dancing With the Stars" in the fall. You want to trace Palin's DNA, you don't have to look further than Levi Johnston's former squeeze.
I love to see the mainstream media in a bad mood. Perhaps Glenn Beck's greatest achievement is making the mainstream press readable.

Observations on Glenn Beck's Rally
Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" Rally is on the TV in the livingroom. Can I summarize it? It's brilliant political theater. This is stealth politics. Politics wihtout the overt political warning. It is clever.
Glenn Beck has hit a new stride. Is this his high water mark? I don't think so. He is becoming an idiom unto himself.
Ugh! Blogger would not let me post this and did not even save my work. They are usually reliable.
See if I can recollect my thoughts. My favorite speaker was of course, Sarah Palin. I plead guilty to liking her and hope she runs for the presidency. She is always a bright spot.
The pundits seem to be asking the same question of Beck: What now? For starters, I think he might be ready for prime time. If he maintains his health and his eyesight, he is destined for big things.
Real big.
