In Defense Of Talk Radio

Let me first praise Howie Carr, the one of a kind Boston-area talk radio host who is one of the funniest men on Planet Earth. He is that good. Think "National Lampoon" at its edgiest. He is frequently cruel if not sadistic. He is knowledgeable, insightful and vicious. Mostly, he is entertaining in a way that Hannity and Levine can never imagine. I hesitate to use those not so humorous men as comparisons. Imagine a better-informed, never PC, George Carlin and you have some idea what "The Howie Carr Show" delivers twenty hours/week.

Something is amiss in Howie Carr Land and I don't know what that is. The video alludes to his ongoing dispute with WRKO but others are speculating on health problems. I don't like to advance rumors but you have to read between the lines a little bit.

Back to Andy Rooney's daughter. Fast forward to 1:45. She calls talk radio dumb and repetitive. I want to briefly refute those assertions.

1. It is the Fourth Estate--AP, newspapers, the networks, etc.,--who all sing in unison. They are woefully intolerant of even the slightest dissent. John Stossel, Lou Dobs, Juan Williams and Howard Kurtz seek asylum at Fox News. Sharyl Attkisson and Bernie Goldberg are simply shown the door. It is the Fourth Estate that is dumb and repetitive.

2. Unlike the Fourth Estate, there is amazing diversity in commercial talk radio. There are talkers who embrace civil liberties, talkers who hate the premise of civil liberties and talkers who believe domestic spying is good just so long as the right people do the spying. There are isolationists, military expansionists, neutralists and who cares where they bomb so long as they get Congressional approval. There are people who want to bring back the draft. There are libertines and prudes and not too long ago the late libertarian Gene Burns advocated the shunning of divorced people. CTR celebrates diversity.

"Right Wing" is a scrap heap for any and all who do not march lockstep with the Mainstream Media. It has come to mean anyone who has an independent thought of any kind.

3. Most people who bash commercial talk radio never listen to commercial talk radio. They have no idea what goes on there. The biggest misconception is that they believe talk radio is all about expounding opinion. Yes but declarations and such are not the main event. Nope.

There is a staple that unifies and defines commercial talk radio and consumes almost all of its programming. Talk radio mostly refutes the Mainstream Media, the vaulted Fourth Estate. If ABC, NBC, CBS and Andy Rooney's daughter were not so dumb and repetitive, if they did their job and told the truth even when the truth is, in the words of Brian Williams, divisive, there would be no talk radio. Rush Limbaugh would be a disc jockey and Howie Carr would be on television.

Most of my Dem friends and most of my family hate commercial talk radio but they have no idea what is being said on the air waves. They hear third hand quotes out of context and on these quotes they form a mountain of hate. I see CTR as a healthy antidote to the drip drip drip of MSM propaganda. The talkers refute the dynastic media. That is why the privileged Fourth Estate feel threatened by the less prestigious medium.

NY Post Headline: "Deleter Of The Free World"

The Hillary saga has a lot of facets and once more, it is hard to observe without feeling frustrated.

Let me go on record saying that I like Bill Clinton and to a lesser degree, I like Hillary. That is not to say that I would ever vote for either of them or that I approve of deleting evidence or obstructing justice or compromising national security but....Hillary, like the Tea Party, like True The Vote, like Herman Cain, like Sarah Palin, like Ted Cruz, is a victim of corrupt news media who have sworn their allegiance to Barack Hussein Obama.

Even if Obama were a good president (by any measure he is one of the worst, if not the very worst) or a good politician (Nope. He's had every deck stacked for him) or even if he did not display a fungal personality, Barry would still be resented as the recipient of grossly favorable treatment. Barry will always be the teacher's pet. The president is every bit as responsible for the email irregularities as is his secret(ary) of state as his appointee. The classroom smirks as Brilliant Barry is given yet another gold star for dutifully monitoring the news and that sassy pants Hillary is made to stand in the corner.

The Associated Press is filing a FOIA on Hillary's emails. Really? Why now, as opposed to shortly after the Benghazi massacre? Puzzles the mind. Did the AP file a FOIA on Lois Lerner's emails? I don't remember them doing so. I don't remember any dinosaur news agency filing a FOIA on anyone who had anything to do with this administration. The press has had a six year siesta through the Obama years.

The MSM are not defending Hillary. Pile on! Pack journalism is alive and well. There are a lot of ways to read this. Waking up...seeing the light...integrity reborn...But's it's the same ole same ole. Protect the pampered prince at any price.

99.99% of the press are either too enamored with or too intimidated by Barack Obama to ever report anything unfavorable (or as Brian Williams labeled it, "divisive") about The One. Their commitment has not wavered. If that means throwing Hillary under the bus, so be it. Yes They Can!

Hillary Saga Is Unbelievable

I have to skip over the Hillary email story for a while because I am hearing stories that just are not credible. Originally, we were told that she was conducting State Department official business using a private email address. This is Richard Windsor sort of stuff.

Then we were told that Hills used a private server to conduct SOME of her official State Department business. Think Richard Windsor on a much larger scale.

Now we are being told that the H-Bomb conducted ALMOST ALL of her State Department communications from her own domain for seven years. And no one noticed? I'm not familiar with the mechanics of Washington but don't Senators and Congressmen and military personnel and for that matter, the White House, sometimes email The Secretary of State? And it is not until 2015 that they notice that they were NOT corresponding with state.gov (or whatever the address happens to be) ?

Again, this is not EPA or FEE or some agency of dubious merit. This is the State Department, not exactly an expendable operation. Not even Ron Paul proposed doing away with the State Department. The CIA did not notice the irregularity? NSA? DIA? Either we have entered an Art Bell world where our government has gone dark on us--The White House, the State Department, Defense and Intelligence and the legislative branch have opted out of oversight. Or the other possibility is that Hillary's subterfuge has been exaggerated.

I don't know if we will ever know the truth about our rogue Secretary. If she stays in the good graces of the White House, this too shall pass. Just one more Benwhatsy, Fast and Forgettable, Lois Who? If they start awarding a Nobel Prize for stonewalling, this administration will claim the first prize. The Secretary's secret emails will be just more Rose Law Firm stuff. Something for the trivia buffs but not something that might influence an election.

In Defense Of Hillary

OK, this post will not live up to the title. I cannot believe that Hillary Clinton, in clear violation of Federal law, established and maintained a private server to conduct her State Department correspondence. Given that state secrets were funneled through Hillary's private email, it is difficult to calculate the number of felonies she might have committed.

This is not Richard_Windsor@yahoo.com it is more like Richard_Windsor@RichrdWindsor.com. And this wasn't EPA bullshit being bandied about. The State Department concerns itself with things like nuclear weapons, foreign operatives, defense secrets--things that matter. It is surprising we did not get Wikileaks II from Hillary's ongoing security breaches.

I am not anti-Clinton. I might not ever vote for a Clinton but I do not feel the need to trash them at every opportunity in the tradition of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter. It is my opinion that unlike our current president, Bill and Hillary love America. And speaking of our current president....

Once more, Barry gets a pass. In all the hours and all the text and all the verbiage concerning Hillary's emails, there has not been one mention of Barack Obama's name. The old "what did the president know and when did he know it?"  is never asked these days. How can the White House not know exactly what Hillary was doing?

This goes beyond the tsk tsk stage. The White House might be complicit in a truckload of felonies.

Obama vs Netanyahu

The contrasts could not be more stark. Obama is once more the prissy diva and shall ever be a prissy diva. The prima donna qualities are brought to focus when the diva is compared to a passionate commando who is ten times smarter, infinitely tougher and as smooth as any political pro in the chambers for that historic speech.

Bibi is charming. He flattered the absentee president (didn't anyone tell him Obama he could just vote 'present'?) he called the Secretary of State his friend, he wished Harry Reid a speedy recovery. "...you can't keep a good man down."  These are the sorts of gestures you will never see with Obama. Because he has always had the deck stacked for him, Obama has never learned the rudiments of politics. He still has training wheels on his bike.

Obama leads with his middle finger. He loves to misstate his opponents' positions because he knows he can get away with it. He is always insulting, always antagonistic. Always. Always. Always. He might not ever pay a political price for his polarization but his party has paid a steep price and could be hobbled for decades to come. Along with Jonathan Gruber and Lois Lerner, Barack Obama will be on the ballot--every ballot--for a long, long time.

Maybe we will have a president like Netanyahu someday. We can dream, can't we?

Boehner Gives Green Light To Executive Fiat

The RINO's caved on DHS funding. This is bigger than it might appear at first glance. It opens the door for Generalissimo Obama to be as lawless as he wants to be. He can illegally wage taxes without consequence. He can effectively obliterate the Second Amendment by banning certain types of ammo and certain weapons and later banning other types of ammo and other weapons. The rest of The Constitution is on shaky ground as well.

If gay marriage is the law of the land, let us hope Mr. Speaker and Mr. President can find their way to the altar. Sorry Mitch. You'll just have to be the bridesmaid. No one has showered more love on Barry than that cute boy from Ohio. His presidency might have been rocky had there been a viable opposition party. Beeny made sure there would be no resistance.

The country has gone to hell but we can content ourselves with laying witness to one of the sweetest romances the world has ever seen. It's hard to choke back the tears.
