The political class is taking measures to make our government safe from peasants one state at a time.
In 2012 there was a hash tag thingy going on entitled "What Republicans Hate Most." It was started by a Michael Moore/MSNBC type whose followers were followers in the most cynical sense of the word. So of course they said things like "a black man in the White House" and other Alinskyisms.
I believe I tweeted "The Tea Party."
John McCain is the face of the Washington insider. He would sooner French kiss Barack Obama (Or Joe Biden. Or any other man of privilege and class and pedigree) than shake hands with an unwashed vassal. In
2010 the people of Utah sent Bob Bennett to a retirement village and replaced him with Mike Lee. Not a bad swap. Maybe in 2016 the good people of Arizona will do the same thing. Hello Senator Brewer?

7 Memorable Attacks On The Tea party From The Mainstream Media
I disagree that these are the worst media attacks but they all deserve another look.
But rather than treat the Tea Party as a standard protest movement, the American media closed ranks with the left and spent much of the last five years attacking them. The Tea Party has been called “racist,” “homophobic,” “terrorists” and “wingnuts.” It has also been accused of causing “economic destruction.” The media tried to link Tea Partiers to the attack on then-Rep. Gabrielle “Gabby” Giffords, D-Ariz., and the Aurora theater shooting.

If Ken Cuccinnelli Loses, Will Ann Coulter Step Up And Accept Responsibility For His Loss?
I can't let the Libertarian and Tea Party situation go just yet. When people refer to the Republican establishment they usually refer to Reince Preibus or Karl Rove or the Bush Family, John Sununu and people of that ilk. Remember though, that there is a GOP Fifth Estate who subscribe to a scorched Earth, 'those who are not for us are against us' approach to matters political. Ann Coulter is the Miss Congeniality of this personity.
A gauge of how far the GOP has drifted into a pro-bureaucracy, pro-statist, pro-Beltway current is enrollment in and support of Libertarian Party candidates. The LP peaked in the late 1970's. They were destroyed by the quasi-libertarian rhetoric of Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, Reagan's actions would not harmonize with his rhetoric but from a purely political perspective, Reagan was successful.
In 2013, the LP has hit a new high water mark. The Virginia LP gubernatorial candidate is polling at 9-13 per cent. You can credit Bush and McCain and Romney for these numbers. You can tip your hat to the consultants too but let's not forget to give a shout out to the Ann Coulters of the world.
For as long as there has been libertarianism, a Libertarian Party and libertarian candidates we have had highly paid media hacks who dismiss their social inferiors with a roll of the eyes and a "Do you still peddle heroin to children?" sort of question. Not just the CBS/ABC/NBC shills but Fox and Hannity and Limbaugh as well. Being that the lead question is always the same, when Coulter is given a chance to field the subject she wags her finger at her audience for their lack of priorities.
Coulter says that this audience wants to discuss drug legalization because they want to "suck up" to liberals. That presupposes the leftist support of drug legalization. The political class views drug prohibition as just one more vehicle to line the pockets of political contributors.
In fairness to "the mob" Coulter calls them a foul name and then is indignant when she gets booed. Come on, Ann. This is a long way from getting shouted down by a bunch of Occupants. This group politely lets you make your point, whatever that point was supposed to be.
As previously mentioned, Coulter was on "The Howie Carr Show" blaming Cuccinnelli's woes on the Libertarians. Howie chimed in by the way, blaming the corrupt John Tierney's re-election on the Massachusetts Libertarian Party. Howie too, is snide when addressing libertarians. Rudeness to libertarian types is de rigueur in the Conservative Media Club.
Ann, you can probably get more voters with honey than with feces but who am I to advise someone of your stature? Not everyone finds your middle finger so endearing. Unfortunately, you might have inflicted collateral damage. If Terry McAuliffe wins the governorship, I do hope he invites you to his inauguration. I hope Bill and Hillary give you deep, wet kisses. You deserve it.
CAN WE ATTRIBUTE YOUR ELOQUENCE TO YOUR SCHOLARSHIP AT CORNELL?

Further Reflections On Libertarians and The Tea Party.
The Tea Party was formed on the premise of fiscal conservatism and a reaction to Federal overreach. Libertarians are by definition advocates of limited government and by definition they are fiscally conservative. From its genesis the Tea Party was quasi-libertarian. One might say it was libertarianism with a narrow focus.
Time passed and the Tea Party and its members were harassed by the Obama Administration. But let's put the actions of Latter Day Fascists aside for a moment and concern ourselves with another development. The Tea Party was co-opted by opportunists. That should not surprise anyone over the age of twelve. It's part of the game. Remember the over the hill political starlets who aligned themselves with Ross Perot's Reform Party?
As opportunists go, this was a bleak harvest. After making a career of defending Republicans and Neo-Cons, Sean Hannity jumped on the bandwagon. The same could be said for most of talk radio. Hacks like Tommy Thompson launched their comebacks. Professional publicity-seeker Joe Arpaio strongarmed the spotlight. The Larouchians crashed town hall meetings. There were Mourdocks and Akins and Teavangelicals at every turn.
The media did their part to distort basic facts. Big-spending Tea Party antithesis Rick Santorum was often referred to as a Tea Party candidate. He expressed his disdain for all things fiscally sane by proposing a tax-driven war on "the scourge of pornography." Nothing wrong with big government if it is staffed with moral people. Spending isn't spending when we do the spending.
Santorum confirmed once more that fiscal conservatism is not compatible with social conservatism. The social conservative always defaults to increased spending. Always. Always. Always. See George Bush and the GOP vintage 2000-2006.
Ordinarily, fringe group rivalries are not always significant. However, Libertarians and the Tea Party are no longer so fringey and a gubernatorial election hangs in the balance. Ken Cuccinelli is a great guy. As Attorney General of Virginia he lead the legal fight against Obamacare. He is in a tight race with Democratic hack Terry McAuliffe. The margin of difference in the polling is about 9% which happens to be the number at which the Libertarian candidate is polling.
Since adolescence I have been either a small l, lower case libertarian, a quasi-libertarian or a libertarian sympathizer. Events like 9/11 have tempered my radical individualist perspective as have the opinions of upper case, large L Libertarians. The dictionary defines a libertarian as one who believes in free will. That would be me.
The discord between Libertarians and the Tea Party is a contrivance. However, the Dems are doing their best to exploit the situation. Out of nowhere these Lib v TP vids have sprouted up on Youtube. They are posted by more than one member who have not previously posted many videos and who it seems, have not been on Youtube for an extended time.
The bogus vids leave their Obot fingerprints everywhere. This is Pink Panther/Keystone Cop sleuth. The Tea Party characters are ditzy social conservatives and if that doesn't give it away, the Libertarians are Kool-Aid-soaked Obama worshippers.
I have never met a Libertarian or libertarian who has lost any sleep over the Ground Zero Mosque or the Birthers beating up on the pampered teacher's pet. At 2:27 of the first video they go off the rails and actually state that under Obama and the Dems Federal taxes have been lowered "in every measurable way." Even in the Obama era of optional truth you would think they would choose a less obvious lie.
If Ken Cuccinelli loses, it will not be due to these bogus Youtube vids. I will blame the GOP establishment, one hundred per cent. In the meantime, please enjoy the cheesy ass efforts of agent provocateur wannabes.
2:27!!!

Giant Duhhhhh...Tea Partiers Have Higher Scientific Comprehension
Should we be surprised that the one political camp who can grasp the obvious is more scientifically literate than the mindless followers of Al Gore, the economics-has-a-right-wing-bias Occupy anything non-cerebral crowd or the stupid by choice because it is stylish Obama worshippers?
Should we be surprised that people (excuse me, I meant to say folks) who cannot grasp the rudiments of economics (either because they are lazy or stupid by choice) would score lower on scientific comprehension? Wonders never cease.
“But then again,” he admitted, “I don’t know a single person who identifies with the Tea Party. All my impressions come from watching cable tv — & I don’t watch Fox News very often — and reading the “paper” (New York Times daily, plus a variety of politics-focused internet sites like Huffington Post & Politico).”

The IRS Friday Apology To Tea Party and Patriot Groups: Why Throw In The Towel When Your Opponent Is Bowed And Bleeding?
There are plenty of reasons to reject Barack Obama. In a post after the 2012 election I trimmed the list to ten.
1. Gross incompetence.
2. Obama's ongoing expressions of Anti-Americanism.
3. Obama's lust for power.
4. Obama's abuse of power.
5. Widespread corruption.
6. The constant promotion of hate and rancor especially the false charges of racism directed at anyone who dares to criticize the One.
7. Obama's unending arrogance.
8. Superficiality over substance.
9. The practice of chronic duplicity and dishonesty such as this country has never before witnessed.
10. A disturbed and disturbing personality.
Number 4, Obama's abuse of power, scares me more than all others. We have a tyrant surrounded by thugs. In 2010, Tea Party groups carried the election. In 2012 these same groups were hobbled by ongoing IRS harassment. Obama. Game. Set. Match.
I reiterate that I don't understand the intricacies of politics. Why is this blatant abuse of power revealed NOW? I am not sure if I am channeling my inner Hillary or my inner Carney but the time to address this Nixonian nightmare was when it took place.
I am more angry with Fox News/ talk radio/the GOP than I am with the White House/IRS. Unlike say, Benghazi, this was not a one timer. I cannot count the number of emails I received revealing the ongoing IRS harassment. This was common knowledge. The Obama Administration's widespread, blatant abuses of power were ignored by both friend and foe. Six months after a corrupted election, the IRS apologizes to the aggrieved. Huh?
This was an ongoing scandal perpetrated in broad daylight, over and over and over. Does anyone, even the most ardent Obot, believe that the White House was not orchestrating this scandal? Can any member of the press deny that they participated in covering-up what might yet be the biggest scandal in US history? Does anyone, anywhere, believe that the election was not ultimately affected by the brains of the White House working in tandem with the brawn of the IRS?
I don't understand why the IRS suddenly admitted what everyone knew. That is genuinely puzzling to me. Barack Obama is the only national politician in my lifetime who could lie and cheat with impunity. The groin-sniffing press could have kept up appearances forever. You got away with crimes innumerable and you had friends in high places who could fix any future problem for you. The flowers were abloom on Easy Street.
Why, oh why, did you throw in the towel when you had the fight in the bag? Why?

Why I am Leery of The Teavangelical Coalition
The Tea Party started shortly after Rick Santelli's legendary impromptu rant. Chicago hosted one of the first Tea Party protests. I doubt if a single person in the crowd at Susan Roesgen's meltdown believed that women could not be impregnated by rape. Three years later the original Tea Party types are less visible and the Akins are front and center. Could it be Gresham's Law at work?
The McCaskill seat was a slam dunk but it might fall back into the blue column. That would be a shame. But say what you may about the sitting Senator, she will never say anything half as stupid as Todd Akin's scientific proclamation.
Todd Akin: Dumbass Excelsior.

Go Back To Fox News, Santorum. Or How To Insure An Obama Victory.
OK, the Tea Party is not explicitly libertarian. But libertarianism is by definition, small government. Conversely, small government promotes individual freedom. Small government is quasi-libertarian by default.
So too, fiscal conservatism. Libertarianism greatly limits fiscal recklessness. Conversely, fiscal conservatism promotes freedom if by only limiting the scope of government activism.
The GOP is uneasy with the Tea Party. The idea of big government conservatism and/or bureaucratic conservatism and/or conservative social engineering is alive and well within the ranks of the Republican Party. The strong belief that Christian bureaucrats are better than lesbian bureaucrats dominates is alive and well in the GOP. Deficit spending is harmless if it performed by people of virtue. Put moral people in high places and we can all return to the glory of the Bush years.
Santorum's hostility to "libertarian influences" belies a hostility to fiscal conservatism, the Tea Party and yes, a hostility to the US Constitution and that pesky Bill of Rights. It also reveals the Senator's poor political judgment. Mitt Romney is looking better every day.
HEY! MAYBE FOX NEWS CAN GIVE SANTORUM NAPOLITANO'S SOON TO BE VACANT SEAT!!!

When Sheriff Joe Arpaio Becomes A Spokesman For The Tea Party, The Tea Party is Over.
Understand, I am fascinated by self-promoters. I begrudgingly respect a leg-spreading, husband-stealing, Dr. Laura Schlessinger who invented a persona of professional prude and retired in luxury. I am amazed that always flabby Richard Simmons could wear loose fitting clothes and ascend to the lofty status of fitness guru. I marvel at the nails-on-chalkboard delivery of Curtis Sliwa could somehow secure an annoyingly inarticulate man a cozy niche in the forgiving world of talk radio.
And as an avoidant personality, I am interested in professional narcissists in much the same way that an anorexic might find gluttons and gluttony intriguing. And yes, I respect Sheriff Joe Arpaio for the cheesy publicity stunts that have always garnered him the Sinclair treatment from the buffoons in both the mainstream and the conservative media. And yes, I am a hopeless opportunist wannabe who seethes with envy when I witness a carpetbagger extraordinaire work his magic. But there is nothing Tea Party about Joe Arpaio.
Joe Arpaio does not support, advocate for or advance the cause of fiscal conservatism. He is not a deregulator, a minarchist or a proponent of the "small is beautiful" school of governance. But in his unending quest for the spotlight, Sheriff Joe has crashed our party.
I was proud when a Wisconsin Tea Party group extended a "Not Welcome" mat to GOP hack Tommy Thompson. But you hammer one lump out of the carpet and it rises somewhere else. Some of us suspected that the Tea Party would eventually be co-opted by a smooth operator. But I did not think the hijacking would occur so soon and I did not think we would be so easily duped.
Frankly, I thought the Tea Party would meet its demise in the form of something other than a tired, tireless and tiresome publicity whore who will hog any spotlight at any cost and at any effort. Rest in peace Tea Party. You are in Sheriff Joe's custody now.

Media Monday: Gallant Journalists Confront a Mob of Racists!
I am white and I despise the mainstream media. If I were black, I would hate them. The sons and daughters of slaves have come a long way largely by their own initiative, resourcefulness and endurance. But every step of the way there is an elitist/Democrat holding an IOU over their heads. "You could never have done it without us. We are the liberators. You owe us. If you can't parrot our slogans, then keep your mouths shut. You bow to us now!" Could they be more patronizing?
