President Obama hates presiding. He doesn't seem to be attracted to work in any sense of the word and he is especially resistant to struggle. The give and take of what we usually think of as governance does not interest Barack Obama in the least. His cult-leader personality cannot tolerate the slightest disagreement.
Coupled with Barack Obama's aversion to opposition is his Creosotian hunger for adulation. Some observers call it a sickness or a personality disorder and I for one happen to think those pundits make some good points. We have never before witnessed a president so committed to fund-raising and the rock star treatment that exercise provides. Truth is, Candidate Obama has never stopped campaigning. He has never geared down his self-promotion rallies that started in 2007. A lame duck, low-approval president does not seem a likely barnstormer. Yet, the Hope and Change Review keeps right on playing to smaller, more select, more refined audiences.
The God Complex carries with it a contempt for rules and laws. There is some concern that Barack Obama will attempt a third presidential term by whatever means necessary--martial law, a new civil war, widespread terrorism. Whatever it takes. That sort of chatter used to sound like talk radio paranoia. But a president who dismisses multiple serious scandals as "phony" and who publicly claims "there is not a smidgen of corruption" as the Department of Justice conspicuously sidesteps investigations is capable of just about anything.
Despite Barack Obama's absurd sense of entitlement, reason might prevail. Advisers might see the White House being won by either the GOP or possibly worse for Obama, Hillary Clinton. The Republicans may or may not like Obama but the Clintons utterly despise the man. It would surprise no one if Hillary strived to earn some reform cred by mounting a few heads of wayward party members. Attorney General Cuccinelli or Attorney General Gowdy might offer a rosier future to former IRS and DOJ employees than would a friend of Hill and Bill. "Step aside, Mr. President, so that Joe can give you that blanket pardon."
The two-jet Obama Family loves the perks of the presidency and they would no doubt experience some difficulty adjusting to the lifestyle of the merely rich and famous. Of course, if the GOP takes The Senate the job might become intolerable for the president. After years of complaining about a do-nothing Congress, the Oval Office could be swamped with literally hundreds of bills that he will want to veto. Keep in mind, Harry Reid has eased the rules on cloture so the floodgates might open wide and wider. A president allergic to work and dissent might tell us that he is ready for bigger and better things. Huffington Post would then tell us Barack Obama was bored with the job because he is just too damn smart.
Should President Biden extend a blanket pardon it would be accompanied by vague references to national security. Perhaps our beloved ex-president was a little too zealous in his killing of Osama Bin Laden and his bountiful patriotism runneth over at other times in the noble defense of his country...Vice President Warren would nod and smile at all the right times.
A resignation will offer strategic advantages to the Obama Wing of the Democratic Party. Biden will be able to run with the enormous advantage incumbency provides. Elizabeth Warren will be introduced to a national audience. The Obama legacy will not be stained by impeachment proceedings or something even more serious. Most importantly, Barack Obama will still be a viable rainmaker unencumbered by convictions.
The Obama end game is intriguing. There are a lot of plates in the air. The normal, subdued passing of the torch is the only thing that would surprise me.

If Ken Cuccinnelli Loses, Will Ann Coulter Step Up And Accept Responsibility For His Loss?
I can't let the Libertarian and Tea Party situation go just yet. When people refer to the Republican establishment they usually refer to Reince Preibus or Karl Rove or the Bush Family, John Sununu and people of that ilk. Remember though, that there is a GOP Fifth Estate who subscribe to a scorched Earth, 'those who are not for us are against us' approach to matters political. Ann Coulter is the Miss Congeniality of this personity.
A gauge of how far the GOP has drifted into a pro-bureaucracy, pro-statist, pro-Beltway current is enrollment in and support of Libertarian Party candidates. The LP peaked in the late 1970's. They were destroyed by the quasi-libertarian rhetoric of Ronald Reagan. Unfortunately, Reagan's actions would not harmonize with his rhetoric but from a purely political perspective, Reagan was successful.
In 2013, the LP has hit a new high water mark. The Virginia LP gubernatorial candidate is polling at 9-13 per cent. You can credit Bush and McCain and Romney for these numbers. You can tip your hat to the consultants too but let's not forget to give a shout out to the Ann Coulters of the world.
For as long as there has been libertarianism, a Libertarian Party and libertarian candidates we have had highly paid media hacks who dismiss their social inferiors with a roll of the eyes and a "Do you still peddle heroin to children?" sort of question. Not just the CBS/ABC/NBC shills but Fox and Hannity and Limbaugh as well. Being that the lead question is always the same, when Coulter is given a chance to field the subject she wags her finger at her audience for their lack of priorities.
Coulter says that this audience wants to discuss drug legalization because they want to "suck up" to liberals. That presupposes the leftist support of drug legalization. The political class views drug prohibition as just one more vehicle to line the pockets of political contributors.
In fairness to "the mob" Coulter calls them a foul name and then is indignant when she gets booed. Come on, Ann. This is a long way from getting shouted down by a bunch of Occupants. This group politely lets you make your point, whatever that point was supposed to be.
As previously mentioned, Coulter was on "The Howie Carr Show" blaming Cuccinnelli's woes on the Libertarians. Howie chimed in by the way, blaming the corrupt John Tierney's re-election on the Massachusetts Libertarian Party. Howie too, is snide when addressing libertarians. Rudeness to libertarian types is de rigueur in the Conservative Media Club.
Ann, you can probably get more voters with honey than with feces but who am I to advise someone of your stature? Not everyone finds your middle finger so endearing. Unfortunately, you might have inflicted collateral damage. If Terry McAuliffe wins the governorship, I do hope he invites you to his inauguration. I hope Bill and Hillary give you deep, wet kisses. You deserve it.

Further Reflections On Libertarians and The Tea Party.
The Tea Party was formed on the premise of fiscal conservatism and a reaction to Federal overreach. Libertarians are by definition advocates of limited government and by definition they are fiscally conservative. From its genesis the Tea Party was quasi-libertarian. One might say it was libertarianism with a narrow focus.
Time passed and the Tea Party and its members were harassed by the Obama Administration. But let's put the actions of Latter Day Fascists aside for a moment and concern ourselves with another development. The Tea Party was co-opted by opportunists. That should not surprise anyone over the age of twelve. It's part of the game. Remember the over the hill political starlets who aligned themselves with Ross Perot's Reform Party?
As opportunists go, this was a bleak harvest. After making a career of defending Republicans and Neo-Cons, Sean Hannity jumped on the bandwagon. The same could be said for most of talk radio. Hacks like Tommy Thompson launched their comebacks. Professional publicity-seeker Joe Arpaio strongarmed the spotlight. The Larouchians crashed town hall meetings. There were Mourdocks and Akins and Teavangelicals at every turn.
The media did their part to distort basic facts. Big-spending Tea Party antithesis Rick Santorum was often referred to as a Tea Party candidate. He expressed his disdain for all things fiscally sane by proposing a tax-driven war on "the scourge of pornography." Nothing wrong with big government if it is staffed with moral people. Spending isn't spending when we do the spending.
Santorum confirmed once more that fiscal conservatism is not compatible with social conservatism. The social conservative always defaults to increased spending. Always. Always. Always. See George Bush and the GOP vintage 2000-2006.
Ordinarily, fringe group rivalries are not always significant. However, Libertarians and the Tea Party are no longer so fringey and a gubernatorial election hangs in the balance. Ken Cuccinelli is a great guy. As Attorney General of Virginia he lead the legal fight against Obamacare. He is in a tight race with Democratic hack Terry McAuliffe. The margin of difference in the polling is about 9% which happens to be the number at which the Libertarian candidate is polling.
Since adolescence I have been either a small l, lower case libertarian, a quasi-libertarian or a libertarian sympathizer. Events like 9/11 have tempered my radical individualist perspective as have the opinions of upper case, large L Libertarians. The dictionary defines a libertarian as one who believes in free will. That would be me.
The discord between Libertarians and the Tea Party is a contrivance. However, the Dems are doing their best to exploit the situation. Out of nowhere these Lib v TP vids have sprouted up on Youtube. They are posted by more than one member who have not previously posted many videos and who it seems, have not been on Youtube for an extended time.
The bogus vids leave their Obot fingerprints everywhere. This is Pink Panther/Keystone Cop sleuth. The Tea Party characters are ditzy social conservatives and if that doesn't give it away, the Libertarians are Kool-Aid-soaked Obama worshippers.
I have never met a Libertarian or libertarian who has lost any sleep over the Ground Zero Mosque or the Birthers beating up on the pampered teacher's pet. At 2:27 of the first video they go off the rails and actually state that under Obama and the Dems Federal taxes have been lowered "in every measurable way." Even in the Obama era of optional truth you would think they would choose a less obvious lie.
If Ken Cuccinelli loses, it will not be due to these bogus Youtube vids. I will blame the GOP establishment, one hundred per cent. In the meantime, please enjoy the cheesy ass efforts of agent provocateur wannabes.

Why Do Conservatives Hate Libertarians Above All Else?
I believe Conservatives hate libertarians because they point out the inconsistencies in Conservative policy. Nothing wrong with the nanny state so long as we have Conservative nannies.
Want to make Limbaugh or Hannity or Beck angry? Call in and mention Ron Paul's name. They hate the man. They dislike libertarians more than they dislike Democrats.
Howie Carr had Ann Coulter on his show today and I listened to about half of the interview. I love Howie Carr and I dislike Ann Coulter. Mind you, I often agree with Coulter but then she loses me sometimes and her personality is always a challenge to endure.
Anyway, Howie and Coulter were complaining because Ken Cuccinelli might lose the Virginia governorship due to the presence of a Libertarian candidate. Cuccinelli is trailing by about nine points which happens to be the percentage of voters the Libertarian candidate is polling. Howie and Coulter are blaming the Libertarians for Cucinelli's likely defeat.
First of all, I don't understand why Republicans think they own Libertarian voters. Second, who says Libertarians draw their backers from the GOP base? Third and most important, why don't the Republicans invite, entice or co-opt the libertarians into their scrawny tent?
About four million expected Romney voters stayed home on election day. Some of these were Ron Paul supporters who were treated rudely by Romney and Sununu at the GOP National Convention. Maybe if they would have treated the Ron Paul people with some respect and more importantly, if they respected The Constitution and the premise of fiscal conservatism, the Libertarian Party might not draw nine per cent of the vote.
I wish Cuccinelli well but if he cannot or will not appeal to a certain nine per cent of the populace, or worse yet, if his party is actively alienating that nine per cent then Virginia will officially become a blue state.
