Coincidence?

So Friday I worked with a staffing agency trainee who was a former member of Reverend Jeremiah Wright's congregation at Trinity United Church of Christ. Understand, we are a small operation and in my six years of employment at Brand X I have worked with fewer than one hundred people counting student interns, trainees, medical professionals, consultants, nursing students, nurse practicioner students and so on.
So what are the odds that from this small group I would meet someone who once ate dinner with George Obama and someone else who sat in the pews of Jeremiah Wright's church?

The odds are not really all that long. Turns out, Trinity United has 8,500 members. With a turnover of even five hundred members/year, over a thirty year period the members and former members would constitute a small city.  And the odds of meeting someone who dined with George Obama?

The George odds are a bit longer. Kenyans gravitate to health care so if one works in health care on the East Coast, one is likely to encounter a Kenyan nurse. I have not been to Kenya but I understand that there are low-priced but high quality restaurants who cater to urbanites who do not have cooking facilities. George Obama might get out on a regular basis.

 I also don't understand Kenyan culture but my friend was not pleased that George joined their dinner party. The original party consisted of three women and one man, who picked up the tab. Had the party consisted of the gentlemen and the three ladies, it would have been a pleasant gabfest. But when George joined the mix, the ladies were expected to dine in silence as the men conversed. George ordered fish by the way and my friend reported that George made it abundantly clear that he practices Islam.

My new acquaintance from Chicago held a lot respect for Jeremiah Wright. In his view, Wright has helped his congregation and the neighborhood. He chuckled when he mentioned the pastor's Porsche. He believes that Jeremiah Wright quotes have been taken out of context and that the pastor is a victim of character assassination.

Oddly, the Windy City transplant was critical of Barack Obama's community organizing efforts. I did not know that that profession had critics. I thought people took such jobs because to paraphrase a former Alaskan Governor, there are no actual responsibilities. "What did he (Obama) do?" my co-worker asked rhetorically.

My colleague did not see Oprah in the pews and of course I did ask if he knew Donald Young. He didn't seem to recognize that name so I did not pursue it further. First impressions were positive and I will put in a good word about this gentleman. He is the best temp we have used to date.

Back to the original question: Is it coincidence that I would meet both a former TUCC member and a George Obama dinner mate from such a small group (fewer than 100 but probably closer to 50) ? Coincidence maybe but not exactly synchronicity. Life is full of these sorts of improbable probabilities.

The George Obama/Dinesh D'Souza link did not embed. I frequently have bad results when I embed from anywhere other than Youtube. In general, I don't like Fox News because they are as bad as their MSM brethren in covering up the real story. No John Drew. No staged faintings. No inquiries into the president's mysterious background (vetting = birtherism.)

But The Sean Hannity interview of Dinesh D'Souza was jaw-droppping. In addition to a brief chat with an erudite George ("We elected the wrong Obama") Obama, D'Souza mentions an aunt of Obama who lives on a few dollars a day by selling coal on the street. She dreams of dental work. She has a millionaire nephew who lives in luxury in the US but who refuses to share a shilling with his father's sister.

I will continue to search for the interview. I went to D'Souza's website. He might be a great speaker and videographer and writer, but his website sucks. I left there frustrated and without embed.

The Most Generous Man In The World

As previously stated, I did not start from the premise of "I dislike Barack Obama." Yes, I disliked his policies and his values and still do. But the man who has emerged over time is frightening in the extreme. In addition to his chronic duplicity, his narcissism, his lust for power and his cold, arrogant personality, Barack Obama is miserly in the extreme. If this guy doesn't give you a chill up the spine, you are no longer human.

George Obama: Part I

I did not start from the premise of "I dislike Obama." In 2007 and well into 2008 I thought of Barack Obama as a vain but vapid man but also someone who was probably a decent human being. Naive perhaps, but personable and well-intentioned.

The more I researched Obama the man, the more his portrait morphed into something much more sinister. I dislike Obama's values and policies, but even more frightening is the amoral, manipulative and cold-hearted character who has revealed his horrid soul to all who dare to see. The man behind the curtain is not a bungling, bumbling mountebank. No, the man behind the curtain is much more frightening than the contrived monster he purports to be.

The president is quick to brag about the boundless riches he has reaped through sales of an absurdly bogus autobiography. And he talks the talk about compassion and helping the less fortunate, brother's keeper, etc. Yes, he can take two jets on a family vacation and shell out $50k/week to rent a nice little place on Martha's Vineyard and hobnob with celebrities at $35k per handshake. But can he spare a monthly C-spot for his brother who lives in a 10' x 10' hut? Insert laugh track here.

Trivial aside. In 2008 I worked with a Kenyan national I'll call G. She had met George Obama in Nairobi. On one occasion G and a few of her friends ate at a diner with Barack's half brother. G did not enjoy herself because she and the other women were expected to remain silent while their male friend discussed a myriad of topics with George Obama. That's the Kenyan way.

I did not ask G the question but she stated with no prompting whatsoever that George Obama is definitely a Muslim. She also said repeated some negative things about the Obamas' tribe that sounded racist to my ears. I won't repeat the stereotypes.
