Teacher Disciplined For Teaching 5th Amendment

There should be a special honor for teachers like John Dryden. Instead he is facing disciplinary action which could possibly result in his dismissal from the Batavia, Illinois high school at which he teaches. If the fifth amendment is good enough for Lois Lerner and every other felon it ought to be good enough for innocent high school students. The trouble started with a survey on alcohol and drug use that was dropped in Dryden's mailbox about 10 minutes before class time. Dryden noticed that the survey forms had names on them. He did not have time to take the matter up with the school administration but instead gave his class a quick lesson on the fifth amendment and the right not to complete questions that could cause the students legal jeopardy.
The school board was not pleased with Dryden's use of the teaching moment . Dryden faces having a "letter of remedy'' placed in his employment file, which could have consequences up to dismissal. I'll bet his students love him!
