RT anchor resigns on air

This RT anchor resigned on the air saying should could not longer be a party to Russian propaganda. She said her grandparents came to the United States during the Hungarian Revolution to escape Soviet occupation and she told viewers she decided she couldn't, in good conscience, continue to work for RT as it pimped for Putin.

Don't ever expect to see a network or cable anchor resign over a matter of principle. They are far too selfish for martyrdom. On the other hand I'm reminded of a Russian anchor who was fired for her on-air editorializing. I liked her too.

Geithner tries to block subpoena in Standard and Poor retaliation lawsuit

Timothy Geithner, through his attorneys has asked a federal judge to block a subpoena requesting information about a phone call he is alleged to have made to Harold McGraw. I have dealt with this emerging scandal here and here. In brief, after Standard Poor downgraded US debt the chairman of its parent company, McGraw Hill, received a phone call from Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner promising there would be consequences. Since then the DOJ has brought a lawsuit against Standard and Poor over its ratings of banks leading up to the financial meltdown of 2008. McGraw Hill claims that the motive for the suit is retaliation for the debt downgrade. Using Geithner's public calendar S&P lawyers have determined that he made the call just 5 minutes after meeting with Obama.
“The Supreme Court and other courts have long recognized that high-ranking public officials should be shielded from discovery requests absent extraordinary showings that the discovery is necessary and that all efforts have been made to avoid it and limit its burdensomeness,” Geithner's attorneys argue.
In other words he doesn't want to talk about it.
Terrence Checki, executive vice president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, also asked the judge to set aside S&P’s subpoena for information. Evidently Geithner vented his frustrations to him.
“Mr. Checki is an executive of the New York Fed, which is not an agency of the federal government, let alone a part of the Justice Department,” according to the filing. “He could not, and did not, play any role in the decision to sue S&P.”
You probably didn't know the fed is not an agency of the federal government did you? We'll see if the judge can figure that out.

Did any of you idiots who are trashing Kesha Rogers and Texas voters consider that maybe voters in Texas oppose Obama's Wall Street-directed policies, such as more bailouts for Wall Street, a law which forces Americans to buy PRIVATE insurance, defense of Bushite NSA spying, drone attacks and GITMO, and committing the U.S. to regime change?  Do you all believe the line that Obama wants to do what's right, but is held back by mean Republicans, such as FOX TV and the Tea Party?

What cowards!! A real, fighting Democrat, in the FDR tradition -- and there are still some of those left in Texas -- hates the corporate agenda of today's Wall Street Dems (ever hear of Ralph Yarborough, Jim Wright, Henry B. Gonzalez?). The disaster for the Dems in Texas is when they defend the indefensible, namely the Obama regime.

So we are treated to Secretary Kerry yammering away about those mean old Russians. The sight of JFK (Just For Kerry) hits a few nerves with me. I don't like the way he betrayed his fellow vets. I am suspicious of a man who made lifetime enemies where others made lifetime friends. I dislike his sense of privilege and I will never understand Limousine Liberals, Lear Jet Liberals or Long Yacht Liberals.

Nonetheless, Kerry looks the part of Secretary of State. He seems to be in control of the situation, a grown-up in charge.

The camera cuts to the President and I see an overgrown college sophomore. Despite the gray hair, he is still the guy who would blow off a national security meeting if someone tapped a keg. When you cut through the window dressing--the imbecilic halo, the fainting women, the cheap hypnotic cadence, the enhanced audio, the dais stacked with brain dead losers--you see a pathetically vapid human being who knows down deep that he is pathetically vapid.

Part of me says we should choose our words carefully in times of national crisis. We must speak with one voice against the forces of oppression. We must be careful about kibbutzing from the sidelines. Michael speaks for the Corleone Family. Then I remind myself that Barry is our president.
