Paul Krugman Masterclass?

Master of what? Prognostication? Flimflam? Propaganda?

I grabbed this from the comments section so I cannot guarantee its veracity but it sounds like something Krugman would say. Others have repeated this quote.

"By 2005 or so, it will become clear that the Internet’s impact on the economy has been no greater than the fax machine’s.” - Paul Krugman. This man is Nostradamus!

Krugman might best be remembered as a Nobel Laureate but he might also be remembered for this November 2016 quote after Donald Trump's stunning upset. Then again, he might best be remembered as a collector of kiddie porn.  Such a multi-faceted individual.

"Now comes the mother of all adverse effects — and what it brings with it is a
regime that will be ignorant of economic policy and hostile to any effort to make it work," Krugman wrote. "So we are very probably looking at a global recession, with no end in sight. I suppose we could get lucky somehow. But on economics, as on everything else, a terrible thing has just happened."

Creepy aside: Because I did some basic research and watched the vid, Google has figured I am a potential student and this ad follows me everywhere.

If Deficits Don't Matter, Why Do We Have To Pay Taxes?

In a perfect world every time a Krugman or a Reich told us deficits did not matter, a member of the news media would follow up with the question that begs with a shiny silver cup, "If deficits don't matter, why do we have to pay taxes? Why do we need an IRS? Why does the IRS hound people with offshore bank accounts? If deficits don't matter, why bother with any revenue at all?"

But we don't live in a perfect world and the corrupt news media all-stars are paid six, seven and even eight figures to refrain from asking the questions that beg to be asked. But it would be nice if someone asked such questions, wouldn't it?

 I can dream, can't I?

Wild Card Wednesday: Paul Krugman Fan Gets Laughed Out Of The Room

This is pure gold. Who does not believe in the dummying down of America? Public education does little more than indoctrinate. Our higher education system, once the envy of the world, has become a vast network of propagation. Things like facts and truth and verifiability just don't matter anymore.

But then our faith in the average person is restored with this video. These are just run of the mill cheeseheads. Wisconsinites who are appallingly average in appearance. Is there anything distinctive about these people? Anything at all?

But then, a speaker from the floor drops the name of Paul Krugman and the house breaks out in a fit of spontaneous laughter. They know of Krugman and they instantly express their opinion of him. We don't see the speaker but his voice suggests that he is taken aback by the crowd's reaction.

If you brought up say, John Kenneth Galbraith, at a town hall meeting in 1968, you would draw a lot of blank stares. Times have changed. In some ways, they have changed for the better.
