How the mighty have fallen. Not too many years ago, Georgetown University shrouded the name of Jesus in black cloth prior to the on-campus arrival of "The One." We would also see a well-worn MSM hack describe Barack Obama as "kind of like God." We would lay witness to an ongoing parade of conspicuous deification. For better or worse, yesterday's deity is now "The next best thing..."

We have not heard how the ex-president is handling his downgrade. Blasphemers beware!

Take your best shot at Palin's supporters. Or McCain's. Or Bush's. Or Hillary's. Or the supporters of any politician in the world. Whatever else can be said about the supporter of EVERY other politician on the planet, they are not so deluded as to deify their heroes.

In this respect, Obama is different from every other politician. He has embraced and fostered and never disavowed the cultists who LITERALLY worship him. While much can be said (and should be said) about the cult followers, we should first focus our attention on the messianic figure who invites and cultivates this worship. Jim Jones is gone but his spirit is still with us.
