If Republicans Gets Elected...If Obama Gets Elected
The choices could not be clearer. We will experience intense pain or we will experience catastrophe such as America has never seen.
The National Debt eclipses every other issue. The economy is the debt and the debt is the economy. I have refused to answer pollster questions where "decreasing debt" and "improving the economy" are listed as separate options. It is ridiculous to talk about one without talking about the other.
If Romney wins and the GOP holds the House and captures the Senate, it will not be Morning In America. Not with $16T in debt. It's midnight, the roof is on fire and even if the firefighters get their act together, they might lose the building.
Washington MUST do three things:
1. Washington must acknowledge the seriousness of the debt.
2. Washington must develop the guts to cut popular programs. We are long past the point where waste and abuse and imprudence are tipping the scales. Sacred cows will be slaughtered. It could be The Department of Education and it could be the Pentagon. It could be both. Pain will be felt this time around.
3. Washington must develop the wisdom to cut prudently while growing the economy. The temptation will be to raise taxes on the providers of private capital. Ask Finland how well that works. Yes, they produce bright people but they end up in places like Silicon Valley because their homeland is sucked dry of capital. America is about one hundred times bigger than Finland and we can't scatter our talent all over the world. When it comes to opportunity, it really is a small world.
Washington must also make sure that the mandatory cuts do not jeopardize the most vulnerable citizens or leave us prone to terrorist or military attack.
So Washington has to develop clarity, fortitude and wisdom overnight? Yes. Washington has never had any of these attributes before, not in our lifetimes anyway. But now they have to instantly display these qualities. Even in the best case election scenario, this is unlikely. This is what a ray of hope looks like.
Peter Schiff says we have already activated the tipping point and the landslide is starting (paraphrased a bit.) David Walker said we have about two years to right the ship but he said it a few months ago. Gary North says that significant inflation is inevitable. The worst is yet to come even if Romney gets elected.
Whereas Romney and his GOP cohorts are a dim ray of optimism, Obama is America's death warrant. No hyperbole here. If Obama is re-elected, it will be the shrouding of America. We will survive in some capacity but we will be as a bankrupt Greece to the glory of Alexander. America will finally succumb to a dose of self-loathing coupled with a larger dose of self-delusion.
It is a deliberate self-delusion that tells us we can spend our way to prosperity. It is a deliberate self-delusion (practiced by both parties) that says deficit spending is OK as long as we are the ones doing the spending. It is self-delusion that excuses failure if it is coupled with stated good intentions. It is self-delusion that tells us that a president's values and actions are trivial compared to his sense of style. Yes, things will be OK as long as we have a president who is friends with Ellen and Oprah and Ashton and Demi and Tweedy. A president who can slow jam with Jimmy Fallon can only bring good fortune to his country.
I never trusted Obama but I once thought that he was a deluded individual who might grow with the job. Let's skip over the reasons that did not happen. We have to acknowledge that Obama is and will forever be, a college sophmore. When this country needed leadership we got horseshit talking points about millionaires and billionaires paying their fair share. Obama is an onion of slogans. Peel a skin and there is another layer of slogans. And the king of chants and slogans might just occupy the White House when America can no longer pay her bills.
If Obama did not take our national debt seriously in his first term and he says nothing about it in his campaign verbiage, can we believe he will take it seriously in his second term? Obama = catastrophe. We might all look foolish arguing about Obamacare during those bygone years. If America cannot pay her bills there will be no Medicare or Medicaid to administer. Also, no Social Security and no paychecks for uniformed personnel. No food stamps and no Section 8. And that's the tip of the iceberg.
What would President Obama do if America goes bankrupt? He would lay blame. He would lay blame upon people he hates. George Bush, the GOP, oil companies, Wall Street, speculators. Spread the blame around and then check the focus groups to see which villain has staying power.
A bankrupt America is hard to fathom . Yes, it would be like Greece but France and Germany would not be there to bail us out. The ripple effect would be felt worldwide. America will hurt but some people in far away places will starve. Worldwide suffering.
Can Obama stave off bancruptcy? No.
Can Romney stave off bancruptcy? Possibly.
Do we want Obama in office when we hit bancruptcy? I don't. No crisis will go unwasted and the Chicago thugs will seize the opportunity to exact revenge on their political rivals, their designated scapegoats and anyone who has not sufficiently paid the piper over the years. Romney would certainly be an upgrade.
I see bleakness in your future. Seven lean cows or seven dead cows. The choice is yours.

GOP Senate Majority Probable. GOP Senate Super Majority Possible.

REGRETS:
New Mexico: The candidate I most hate to see run away is Gary Johnson. He could have been the next Rand Paul. Instead, he is the nest Andre Marrou. Giant sigh. The popular former governor would have won the state and we would not worry about him coming out of the RINO closet. But we have to move on.
New Mexico is still in play but Heather Wilson trails Martin Heinrich 48-41 (Rasmussen.) And Obama leads Romney 52-38 in The Land of Enchantment. It will be an uphill battle.
New York: I would have also liked to have seen a GOP dinosaur (Guliani or Pataki) challenge Gillibrand in New York. I am not a fan of either of these inflated figures but they won't mindlessly follow Sleazy Harry over a cliff. Good luck, Wendy Long.
Minnesota: I wanted either Tim Pawlenty or Norm Coleman to step up in Minnesota. As with the New York dinosaurs, I am lukewarm to these guys but both of them could have won. Good luck Daycare Center Owner & Ron Paul Campaign Activist (Politics1 description) Kurt Bills. This one was so damn winnable.

Wisconsin: They gave us Ryan and Walker and now they hand us Tommy Thompson. Two out of three ain't bad. I hate to keep picking on the Tommy Gun but he is one of the best examples of what is wrong with The Republican Party. Tea Party he ain't.

Missouri: Todd Akin. Let's move on. Nothing to see here, folks. Let's move on.
PLEASANT SURPRISES:
Hawaii: Linda Lingle is a force to be reckoned with.
Connecticutt: Yes, I would have preferred Peter Schiff or David Walker but they don't have the street fighting instincts of Linda McMahon. There could be a pile driver in the Dems' future.
Maine: Olympia Snowe is retiring. Hey Olympia, can you take Dodd/Frank with you?
Indiana: You have earned your retirement, Senator Lugar. Back home again in Indiana? 36 years is a long time to be gone, Senator.
Texas: Ted Cruz is an upgrade.
Massachusetts: The Dems are running compulsive liar Elizabeth Warren against Scott Brown. Even in the flex-truth world of American politics, Warren's behavior is extreme. She has literally made a career of using her fraudulent American Indian heritage to play the affirmative action game. This ploy has landed her a position at Harvard and might yet win her a Senate seat. Benedict Arnold Brown is starting to look good once more.
THE BALANCE SHEET:
More bad news than good. The stars were aligned. The Dems had 23 seats to lose, the GOP but 10. Obama has no coat tails. Voter ID laws might minimize voter fraud. With a little more effort, the Republicans could have almost run the table. It was all there for the taking.
The Democrats will have to pull off a series of miracles to maintain a majority. Rasmussen has Nebraska and Wisconsin as "Safe Republican." Too soon to pop the corks just yet but if they hold and nothing else changes, the Dems would maintain 51 seats to the GOP's 49. Some years ago my dentist, Dr. Jim Porter, stated that dental fillings should last twelve years, plus or minus ten years. Sounds imprecise but it is actually an accurate forecast given the unpredictability of such matters. Coming down to the wire the GOP are on track to net six Senate seats, plus or minus eight.
I predict that many of us will be staying up late on election night.

Proactive Spin: Why The Obamamedia Inflate Their Leader's Poll Numbers
Obama might get re-elected but that's not the way things are trending. The tea leaves look bad for the O'Man and the media realize it. There has been chatter on the leftist blogs advocating throwing the president under the Greyhound. Blame his defeat on Obama's ineptitude and spare his collectivist worldview. In other words, he had great ideas but he was too (what is the NPR word for stupid ally?) inexperienced/unpolished/ blah blah blah to make it work.
That is one spin. Another spin is in the works. Throughout primary season Romney could only spend a fraction of what Obama was spending. That changes post-convention. Get ready for wall to wall Mitt.
And should Mitt win? "Obama was in the lead until the Citizens United decision blossomed in the real world. Romney bought the election."
The advantage of padding Obama's numbers in June or July is that one cannot be disproven. A perfect media crime.

"2016": A Bullet Point Review
1. Obama is starting to remind me of the JFK assassination. There is a hunger to explain suspicious behavior. D'Souza is a latter day Robert Blakey.
2. Much of the documentary excerpts "Dreams From My Father." With the dozens of fabrications can we even trust the tone and tenor of this work? And if a ghost writer does emerge, does that change the equation?
3. Since the 1950s movies have lived by one rule: Give them something they can't get on TV. Unfortunately, this mentality leads to an indulgence of gimmickry. I hate shaky cams and blurry cams and super close-ups and whatever you call the bullshit scan-and-pan-in-the-theater technique where part of the talking head's face is off-camera. And the silly ass reconstructed telephone conversations with inconsistent audio was annoying. But hey, this is a paying audience. Got to remind them that they are in a movie theater and they are not watching "60 Minutes" in their living rooms.
4. As much as I fear our ballooning deficit, I don't know if there is a deliberate attempt to destroy America by over-spending. Paul Ryan voted for the stimulus and rode along with Bush and Delay for most of their destruction. If everyone is in the cabal, it isn't much of a conspiracy. Still, if a politician wanted to destroy America from the inside, nothing would do the trick like over-spending.
5. Obama is quoted as saying in effect that he could get his way with white people just by not showing anger. Who ghostwrote that line? Obama has been petulant, if not openly hostile, since his inauguration, if not before.
6. This is not an Obama hatchet job. He is treated with a lot of sympathy. His father was a lout and his mother was a flake. His maternal grandfather was, well, what is the word for a hard drinking communist sympathizer who introduces his grandson to Franklin Marshall Davis? I doubt that President Obama is a happy man.
7. As with the JFK assassination, the theories start cancelling out other theories. The Grassy Knoll can only hold so many assassins. Does Neo-Colonialism explain the puzzling motives of our international man of mystery better than a narcissistic personality disorder? Do either of these things expain Obama's behavior better than John Drew's assertion that Obama is an unreformed, hard core Marxist? Or that he is first and foremost, a Crypto-Muslim? Or that he really is a dumb ass who has been elevated far beyond his talent ala Chauncey Gardener? Let's return to this subject shortly.

In addition to George Obama's ailing child, there is the paternal aunt who lives in poverty in Kenya and another half-brother (who happens to be a physicist now living in China) excommunicated for disagreeing with Barack. George Obama's book deal was probably killed by enemies in high places. I wish some of those stories could have found their way into the theater.
9. I dragged along a thirtysomething buddy of mine who voted for Obama in 2008. He will probably vote for Obama in 2012. He thought the movie was too much conjecture and did not sufficiently blame Bush.
10. With all the allowances for conjecture and speculation, I believe D'Souza's portrait of Obama as an embittered, ideological manchild best explains the absurdity of the last four years. D'Souza has hit the bullseye!
