The shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Florida is an unmitigated tragedy. 50 people dead and that number could increase. Over 100 people shot. No silver linings here.
Trying to sort through the facts, this jaded blogger was frustrated by the semantic scrum unfolding on the small screen.
Was this an act of terrorism? As opposed to what? It was not an earthquake or tornado or hurricane, was it? Was it a flood? A prairie fire? Let's get the best and brightest on this one.
Was this a hate crime? AS OPPOSED TO WHAT??? Can we at least agree on the crime part? How many hairs do we have to split?
Even Fox News (sic) is musing about the mysterious motives of Omar Mateen.
Before my wake-up coffee was poured they already had an iman in front of the cameras wagging his finger in our faces. Was he on-call? Is that some sort of protocol I have not heard about? Mass murder and priority #1 is to get the guy with the funny hat to the news conference? Mass shooting. Gun laws. It's your fault for owning a firearm.
Now we are waiting for the commander-in-chief to wag his condescending finger and remind us of the crusades and the evils of Christianity. I bet he mentions gun laws too. He will remind all of us who the real haters happen to be. I can hardly wait.
MORE GUN LAWS NEEDED
