When Vermont Health Connect started Oct. 1, officials released numbers daily, showing how many people visited the site, how many accounts were established and how many people actually signed up.Okay, that's 631 who have signed up but who haven't paid and Vermont expects to enroll 100,000 people by January 1. That's about 1,100 per day but I'm sure the site will start working better after people stop going there. With these biweekly updates even Vermonters will be able to see the trends accurately. You don't need a weatherman to know etc.
WCAX News called Tuesday after the last two email updates did not include the number showing how many Vermonters signed up. A spokeswoman told us staff decided they will now only release information on Mondays and Fridays. She says daily updates will not provide Vermonters with accurate trends. But after our story aired at noon, officials released the latest numbers, saying 631 Vermonters had signed up.
The state is expecting 100,000 people to enroll for the new insurance system which starts Jan. 1.
Although people can sign up, a glitch in the system means you still can't pay for a plan. The state expects that to be fixed Nov. 1.
