The Predictable Marriage Of CNN and SPLC

The SPLC has been criticized from all points of the political spectrum for its incessant fundraising (resulting in the accumulation of a “surplus” exceeding $300 million, some of which is invested offshore in Cayman Island accounts), lavish executive salaries (some topping $400,000 annually), and a litigation program calculated to generate sensational headlines rather than tangible results alleviating “Southern poverty.” Morris Dees, one of SPLC’s co-founders, has used the SPLC to promote his political agenda—and enrich himself.
As for chronicling “hate groups,” the SPLC is principally focused on maintaining lists of individuals and groups with opposing politics, and subjectively labeling them “hate groups” or “extremists,” often without justification.  SPLC senior fellow Mark Potok, who is in charge of maintaining the lists, has declared that “our aim in life is to destroy these groups, to completely destroy them.” Even Politico has called SPLC’s agenda into question, asking “Has a Civil Rights Stalwart Lost Its Way?” The writer of that story, Ben Schreckinger, noted the frequent charge that “the SPLC is overplaying its hand, becoming more of a partisan progressive hit operation than a civil rights watchdog.” Politico’s skeptical look at SPLC joined a torrent of criticism appearing in other publications, including the Wall Street JournalHarper’sThe Weekly StandardReasonThe Federalist, and even The Progressive.

Remember Kids, Nazis are socialists (and sometimes vice versa)

Hey look - white supremacist Richard Spencer is a socialist!

what would you prefer to replace Obamacare with?
.@CodyBrown

Single-payer socialism for basic stuff. On top of that could be a free market for more advanced, elective, boutique stuff.

Bye Bye Bannon

I can't say that I know much about Steve Bannon. I know that he was wrongly smeared as a white supremacist by Nanct Pelosi and Hillary Clinton. Those are two monsters who spew slander like a volcano sprays lava. Still, I have sympathy for anyone who is wrongly tarred a racist.

I don't know if Bannon had a power struggle with Priebus or Kushner or anyone else. I doubt if the MSM had any info on those things either. Anything that makes Trump look bad is good. Make it up as they go along.

I also doubt that Trump was jealous of Bannon taking credit for his ultimate victory. The media have assigned superficial motives to Trump from day one and they also have a bias for Trump discord. More blah blah blah.

What I do know is that Bannon bad mouthed the Trump Administration in a conversation with someone from "American Prospect." Talking to them in any capacity should have gotten Bannon fired. "American Prospect" is one of the earliest spawns of George Soros. Robert Kuttner is a cryptomarxist who publicly praised Soros way back in the mid-nineties. If Bannon was trying to alienate Trump from his base, this was a great way to do so.

We are also told that Bannon floated the trial balloon of increasing taxes on high earners. If you think poor people benefit when politicians tax the wealthy, please read Thomas Sowell or John Tamny or Friedrich Hayek. If you are too lazy to read, Sowell has some good Youtube vids that make his points concisely. In short, there will be no economic recovery without tax relief.

Workplace friction almost always comes down to one thing: Not enough work to go around. What was Bannon's title? A strategist? The election was over in November. Strategize what exactly? But even irrelevance can be overlooked. Badmouthing the administration's North Korean strategy, their China trade policy or Trump's plans for economic recovery with avowed enemies is hard to forgive.

David Horowitz On The Enormity Of Leftist Terrorism

What “Unite the Right” actually demonstrated was that the assortment of neo-Nazis, pro-Confederates and assorted yahoos gathered under the banner of the “Alt-Right” is actually a negligible group. This was a national show of strength that actually attracted only a few hundred people. Compare that to the tens of the thousands who can readily be marshalled by two violent groups of the left – Black Lives Matter and Antifa – and you get an idea of how marginal “white supremacists” are to America’s political and cultural life.
Yet “white supremacy” and its evils became the centerpiece of all the fake news reporting on the event, including all the ludicrous attacks on the president for not condemning enough a bogeyman the whole nation condemns, and that no one but a risible fringe supports. Talk about virtue signaling! Omitted from the media coverage were the other forces at work in precipitating the battle of Emancipation Park, specifically Black Lives Matter and Antifa, two violent leftwing groups with racial agendas who came to squelch the demonstration in defense of the monument.

If White Supremacists Did Not Exist, The Left Would Invent Them

While Supremacists--the KKK, Neo-Nazis, etc.--were a vanishing species until the Democrats brought them back to prominence. We have already learned that a chief organizer of Alt-Right and Unite The Right is Occupy Wall Street veteran and Obama acolyte, Jason Kessler. Given that no one ever heard of the Alt-Right until Hillary Clinton brought them into the spotlight, it is worth asking if White Supremacy has been brought back to life by political operatives.

The radical left wants to see Neo-Nazis gain prominence on the right to polarize the country. It wants to see our values and norms drowned in violence so that it has an excuse to eliminate free speech. It seeks to eliminate democracy by making the other side appear nightmarishly dangerous. It plots to impose a totalitarian system on the United States by empowering extremists to destroy the current system.

So We Can Call Them Redskins But Washington Has To Go?

Less than 24 hours after President Donald Trump was ridiculed for suggesting it would happen, calls to remove monuments to George Washington have begun.
Bishop James Dukes, pastor of the Liberation Christian Center, has asked Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to remove the names of presidents who owned slaves and the bronze statue of George Washington on horseback. The Washington monument stands at the corner of 51st and King Drive, located at the northwest entrance to Washington Park.
Mr. Dukes told CBS Chicago Gen. Washington might be the nation’s first president and the leader of the Revolutionary Army, but “he’s no hero to the black community.”

Sick Bastards

BTW, will we be changing the name of "Forrest Gump"? Can we recast an updated version without the racist Tom Hanks in the lead role?

THIS HAPPENED IN 2015 BUT IS STILL RELEVANT TODAY: A group of protesters decided to go digging to destroy a Confederate General’s grave. No kidding! Does anyone out there think this will do anything productive? It’s horrible to desecrate someone’s grave so these people are doing what they preach against…This is hateful! Let it be!
The campaigners claim it has taken officials in Memphis, Tennessee, too long to exhume Nathan Bedford Forrest – who was a lieutenant general in the Confederate States Army.
They also want the statue of the soldier on a horse on the burial site to be removed. The rebel cavalryman, who died in 1877, has been buried in the city’s Health Sciences Park since 1904.

"The Atlantic" Acknowledges (But Justifies and Glorifies) The Rising Violence From The Left

In the days leading up to the planned parade, a group called the Direct Action Alliance declared, “Fascists plan to march through the streets,” and warned, “Nazis will not march through Portland unopposed.” The alliance said it didn’t object to the Multnomah GOP itself, but to “fascists” who planned to infiltrate its ranks. Yet it also denounced marchers with “Trump flags” and “red maga hats” who could “normalize support for an orange man who bragged about sexually harassing women and who is waging a war of hate, racism and prejudice.” A second group, Oregon Students Empowered, created a Facebook page called “Shut down fascism! No nazis in Portland!”

Next, the parade’s organizers received an anonymous email warning that if “Trump supporters” and others who promote “hateful rhetoric” marched, “we will have two hundred or more people rush into the parade … and drag and push those people out.” When Portland police said they lacked the resources to provide adequate security, the organizers canceled the parade. It was a sign of things to come.

Was Charlottesville A Set-Up?

This whole thing smells bad.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The riot in Charlottesville, Virginia that took the life of Heather Heyer has some strange coincidences, along with lapses and provocations on the part of Charlottesville and Virginia state officials that make one wonder if the whole affair wasn’t designed to result in a violent clash that not only could be laid at the feet of President Trump, but would spark other violence across the country – which it did.

The first item worth noting in this tragedy is that the organizer, Jason Kessler, appears to be an equal opportunity provocateur. Prior to the election of President Trump Kessler was not associated with the Alt-Right, he was an Obama supporter, associated with the violent Leftists of the Occupy Wall Street movement.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To reiterate, I immerse myself in the Anti-Left blogosphere and I never heard of the alt-right until Hillary called it to our attention. Understand, for eight years I blogged, read conservative/Tea Party/rationalist/libertarian web sites, watched literally thousands of Youtube videos, and I never heard of the alt-right. I asked a lot of other people and I could not find anyone who had ever heard of the alt-right. Nonetheless Hillary identified this racist movement that she tried her darnedest to connect to the Trump campaign.

What prompted the March on Charlottesville? It was a reaction to a plan to remove a statue of Robert E. Lee. Lee is a respected historical figure whose name has been lent to schools and colleges, streets and roads, at least one state holiday and the 1969 Dodge Charger from "The Dukes Of Hazzard." Lee is not only a significant historical figure, he is a fixture of popular culture.

By no means is it only Klansmen and Neo-Nazis and white supremacists who admire and respect The General. It is safe to say that a march to protect the memory of Lee would draw a diverse crowd. I doubt if most of the marchers could tell you who Richard Spencer or Jared Kessler were, but they knew of the importance of Robert E. Lee. It is more than a bit plausible that many of the protesters were unaware of a KKK presence. They were probably also unaware that they were being lead to slaughter.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once more from ConservativeHQ.

But things got even stranger on the day of the riot.
As the crowd built and tensions mounted – and assaults by the Black Block anarchists rose – the city and state police did nothing to enforce Virginia’s anti-masking law.

Virginia Code 18.2-422 was passed as an anti-Ku Klux Klan measure and says:
It shall be unlawful for any person over sixteen years of age while wearing any mask, hood or other device whereby a substantial portion of the face is hidden or covered so as to conceal the identity of the wearer, to be or appear in any public place, or upon any private property in this Commonwealth without first having obtained from the owner or tenant thereof consent to do so in writing. However, the provisions of this section shall not apply to persons (i) wearing traditional holiday costumes; (ii) engaged in professions, trades, employment or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer or other persons; (iii) engaged in any bona fide theatrical production or masquerade ball; or (iv) wearing a mask, hood or other device for bona fide medical reasons upon the advice of a licensed physician or osteopath and carrying on his person an affidavit from the physician or osteopath specifying the medical necessity for wearing the device and the date on which the wearing of the device will no longer be necessary and providing a brief description of the device. The violation of any provisions of this section shall constitute a Class 6 felony.

Unmasking laws, when enforced, have proved to be exceptionally effective deterrents to violence by Antifa thugs, for example at Auburn University in Alabama, where police enforced Alabama’s anti-masking law, ripping off masks and in some cases arresting masked Antifa thugs.

It is bizarre, not to say extremely suspicious, that Virginia’s Democratic Governor Terry McAuliffe and Charlottesville city officials Mayor Mike Signer (also a rabid anti-Trump activist), Vice Mayor Wes Bellamy and Police Chief Al Thomas Jr. had this tool that could have been used as necessary against both sides in the riot and did not use it.

It was almost as if they wanted masked thugs to be running wild in their city center.

The final and most bizarre evidence of a set-up was the police “stand-down” order issued as the riot broke out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My hope that is that the DOJ investigates this as a civil rights case. Specifically, the violation of the civil rights of the peaceful protesters, whatever their position might be.

Protesters topple Confederate statue in Durham, North Carolina

Is "Unite The Right" Organizer An Occupy Wall Street (Occupier?) And Obama Supporter?

Well this is fishy. His name is Jason Kessler. He is the one cited as the organizer of the now infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The thing is, Mr. Kessler’s arrival on the “alt right” and/or “White Nationalist” scene didn’t occur until November 2016.

The Left's Selective Moral Outrage And Their Unending Baby Talk

First, we need to clear up this “the right,” nonsense.

White supremacists are not from “the right.” Neither are Nazis. Modern white supremacists have no traditionally American political affiliation. If you think they are part of the conservative side of the aisle, you are simply ignorant of what they say about themselves. They do not identify with the conservative political ideals of small government and individual responsibility.
White supremacists also do not love America. They hate our religious freedoms, they hate our individual freedoms, and they hate that our society is generally a meritocracy wherein regardless of race one can “make it” based on his personal talents. They want a race-based society enforced by the power of government. Those are neither right-wing nor conservative ideals.
Indeed, the original American white supremacists, the deservedly hated but currently powerless Ku Klux Klan, came from the Democrat Party. So, they are hardly from “the right.”
Nazism is now and always has been a left-wing ideology. It is socialist in origin and does not contain a single tenet that can be aligned with the American conservative ideology. In fact, Nazis are little different than the liberals at our colleges and universities. Both want to use the power of government to quash and eliminate their political opposition. Fascism and Nazism are left-wing ideas and both should be condemned as un-American.

Oh BTW, Trump Supporters Have Also Been Attacked

Quite often too.

The following list is by no means exhaustive.

HERE’S THE TRUTH AND IT’S SHOCKING:
– Protesters jumped on cars, stole hats, fought with and threw eggs at Trump supporters outside a Trump rally in downtown San Jose, Calif. Trump supporters sued San Jose over the violence.
July 2016:
-A Hillary Clinton supporter lights a flag on fire and attacks a Trump supporter in Pittsburgh.
August 2016:
-Anti-Trump protesters attacked pushed, spit on and verbally harassed attendees forced to walk a “gauntlet” as they left a Trump fundraiser in Minneapolis, Minn., and beat an elderly man. Protesters also attacked Trump’s motorcade.
–A Tennessee man was assaulted at a garage sale for being a Trump supporter.
-A Trump supporter in New Jersey was attacked with a crowbar on the street.
September 2016:
-Protesters in El Cajon, Calif., chased and beat up a Trump supporter.
October 2016:
-A GOP office in North Carolina was firebombed and spray painted with “Nazi Republicans get out of town or else.”
November 2016:
-A high school student was attacked after she wrote that she supported Trump on social media. The perpetrator ripped her glasses off and punched her in the face.
-The president of Cornell University’s College Republicans was assaulted the night after Trump won the election.

Bye Bye Drudge

"Make America Hate Again"?  Et tu Brute?

Trump does not deserve this sort of disrespect.

I dumped Drudge some time after the election. We were on borrowed time. The net passed him by. When Drudge started in the 90's, he was an original linkmeister, an aggregator as they are sometimes called. In the early days, it made sense to link to MSM sites. They were the only players and they had yet to squander their credibility. Bias? Sure. Patently false? Probably not.

There was no "Breitbart" or "American Thinker" or "Front Page" way back when. Had the big boys and gray ladies not gone full throttle partisan, those sites might not have gotten off the ground.  But they did and they did and I for one, tuned out the MSM. Drudge, meanwhile continued to link to the old news. If I want to read NYT or WAPO, I can find my way there.

For readers who still visit Drudge, I recommend they switch to Bad Blue. Unlike Drudge, Bad Blue reveals the link destination. So if the result is someone you don't trust or have already read, you can ignore it.

Sorry I forgot to say good bye, Drudge. Can't say I miss you.
