The Best Analysis Of The Past Eight Years

If someone close to you has succumbed to the Cult of Obama, it is not a pretty thing to watch. The once lively and engaged mind has been drained of its juice. It is much like witnessing a loved one in the grips of heroin addiction or adjusting to a significant head injury or caught in the grips of Alzheimer's. Yes, the person is there but the beloved personality is gone and it's doubtful if it will ever return.

The day after Osama Bin Laden was killed, I received a call from one the best friends I will have in this life. We were both excited about the event but it soon dawned on me that we were excited for different reasons. I was pleased that an ongoing threat to our survival had been eliminated and our honor had been restored. He was thrilled that this singular event would ensure Obama's re-election. My friend's life now rose and fell with Obama's fortunes. He had changed and my old friend is long gone.

Ace of Spades nailed it in 2013. This analysis concerns the news media but it is just as true of your amateur Obot.

For Obama's fanbois, this is not politics. This isn't even America, not really, not anymore.

This is a movie. And Barack Obama is the Hero. And the Republicans are the Villains. And policy questions -- and Obama's myriad failures as an executive -- are simply incidental. They are MacGuffins only, of no importance whatsoever, except to the extent they provide opportunities for Drama as the Hero fights in favor of them.

Obama has succeeded is fundamentally transforming America but not necessarily in the political realm. We are witnessing a metaphysical shift. This is how America became Jonestown.
