Chick-fil-A to the rescue

Motorists stranded in their cars on Highway 280 outside of Birmingham, Alabama were allowed to shelter in a Chick-fil-A restaurant but the good works did not stop there.
Once the snow started accumulating, Meadows closed the restaurant and sent his staff home. But a few hours later, many of them returned – unable to get to their homes.

“Our store is about a mile and a half from the interstate and it took me two hours to get there,” manager Audrey Pitt said. “It was a parking lot as far as I could see.”

So Pitt left her car on the side of the interstate and joined a flock of bundled up drivers trudging through the snow.

Some of the drivers had been stuck in their cars for nearly seven hours without any food or water. So the staff of the Chick-fil-A decided to lend a helping hand.

“We cooked several hundred sandwiches and stood out on both sides of 280 and handed out the sandwiches to anyone we could get to – as long as we had food to give out.”

The staffers braved the falling snow and ice and Chick-fil-A refused to take a single penny for their sandwiches.

The meal was a gift – no strings attached.
Christian charity, Southern hospitality or just good citizenship? No matter, but don't expect that classy behavior everywhere. Rahm Emanuel has made it clear that "Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values.”

Officer indicted in shooting of unarmed man

Finally a little justice! A grand jury has indicted Randall Kerrick for the shooting death of 24-year-old Jonathan Ferrell. Following an auto accident Ferrell walked to a nearby home and pounded on the front door. The occupant, sacred and thinking it was an attempted home invasion, called police.

Kerrick fired 12 shots and 10 struck the unarmed Ferrell.

Income Equality By Any Other Name...

Income Equality has had many names over the years. Marxism begat Communism. Communism developed a bad name for itself and it was diluted to Socialism--a kinder, gentler version of Communism.

When Socialism squandered its limited appeal, socialists hijacked the terms Liberalism and Progressivism (how can retrogressive policies be progressive? Puzzles the mind.) The problem with those flags of convenience is that they only fool a few sailors some of the time. Most of the sea dogs know who is really at the helm. Aye mateys.

Latter day Marxists hide behind banners that read "Social Justice" or "Economic Justice" or "Income Equality." It's the central problem with Leftists. They are fundamentally dishonest people who are dishonest with themselves. They don't like to put their cards on the table. They believe that they can change the content by changing the label and fool some of the people some of the time. They often fool themselves in the process.

Income equality has two major problems. One is history. The Soviet Union did not help in selling the program. Nor did Chairman Mao. Roughly half of the world got to experience a worker's paradise and most of them hated the experience. The record of Marxism/Communism/Socialism/Watered Down Marxism/Watered Down Communism/ Watered Down Socialism/ Flavor Of The Month Labelism or any other repackaging of Collectivism spawning economic viability for entire countries is not something the Feel-Gooders like to discuss.

The other problem with Income Equality is that no one believes in it. If Barack Obama believed in income equality he would not accept a salary larger than the worldwide median per capita income of $2,920. We could be generous and award him the worldwide, median household income of $9,733. Or we could really be kind and award him the median household  income of the United States, which happens to be about $43, 000. I don't think Barry really wants income equality.

But let us not pick on Barry. If Tom Hanks, Beyonce, Matt Damon, Oprah, Michael Moore--we could list a phone book of names here--believed in income equality, they would surrender to the IRS every penny over $9,733. If one Bernie Sanders or one Alan Grayson or one Ralph Nader or one Phil Donahue or even one NPR or PBS or Associated Press employee put their money where their ample mouths happened to be, it would result in a man bites dog story no one could ignore. But no one really believes in income equality. No one.

So if we watch the State of the Union address we will see a bullshit artist faking compassion. We will hear bullshit pundits offering their praise for the phony displays of compassion. We will be hit with focus group-tested slogans. We will hear the conflation of poverty and income inequality in a boldly deceptive display of flim flam and duplicity. What will be missing?

There will be no hope.

There will be no change.

RIP Pete Seeger

Pete Seeger is dead at 94. He was the father of the folk movement but he was more than that. He was a fixture of the political left back when the left had something to say. He was investigated by the House Un-American Activities Committee in the 1950s owing to his membership in the American Communist Party. He stood for principle when standing for principle had consequences. He was black listed in the entertainment industry and indicted for contempt of congress but he never lost his poise. He was above all else a perfect gentleman. He will be missed.

Why I Will Always Like Ron Paul: Power To The Organ Barons

Ron Paul is not usually accused of inconsistency. It would be a better world if we could peddle our extra kidney.

Is The Obama Administration Trying To Prevent The Release Of Disouza's Midterm Documentary?

Is that a rhetorical question?

WASHINGTON — A conservative filmmaker has a suspicion as to why his colleague, Dinesh D’Souza, was just indicted on federal charges of violating campaign finance laws.
Dennis Michael Lynch, a successful filmmaker in his own right, sees a political motive behind the charge.
“Is he guilty of what it is they claim he did? I have no idea,” Lynch told WND. But, he added, “Guilty or not, they’re going to throw him into the mud to discredit his name.”

Obama asks officers, Will you fire on Americans?

According to Dr. Jim Garrow, a Nobel Prize nominee, a source tells him that Obama is shaking up the military brass by using as a litmus the officers' willingness to fire on Americans. Of course the set back the President suffered with his attempts at more gun control legislation following Sandy Hook and the downsizing of the army made necessary by the sequester make a military take over a pretty dubious bet. Yes, the military probably could defeat a rebel army in a head to head battle but to try to control the day to day life of the entire country just is not possible. It would need the cooperation of local law enforcement which may be forth coming in Massachusetts and New York City but practically nowhere else.
Try running the state of Texas with the troops at Fort Hood or Kentucky with the men from Forts Knox and Campbell. Try running West Virginia with the West Virginia National Guard. The bitch is career veterans tend to settle in close proximity to military bases as to better access medical treatment and the commissaries and they are often only a few years older than the active duty troops. They have camaraderie with active duty personnel and vice versa and many cases would be a competitive counter force but it would never come to that.
This is not to suggest that many on the left, including some in the Obama White House, and maybe Obama himself would not like to see the federal government  have enhanced police powers. It would be a great idea for Obama to just once fire his advisers who give him such bad counsel.
