North Pacific Garbage To Unseat Global Warming As New Science Hoax?

That global warming filament stills flickers but it might be time to upgrade to a fancy curlycue reading light. NPR et al, have reported on a giant plastic killing field twice the size of Texas that swirls around a vortex, wreaking havoc on marine life. The Pacific Garbage Patch might generate funds long after we have entered a new ice age.

For a moment, let us suppose that there really is a sheet of plastic, twice the size of Texas floating around in international waters. There could be a platinum lining to this story as the following videos illustrate.

IF YOU CAN BUILD A STILL, YOU MIGHT BE THE NEXT OIL BARON

WAS IT ONLY THREE YEARS AGO THAT THIS VIDEO EMERGED? SEEMS LIKE A LONG TIME AGO

MORE MOONSHINE

All that would work if you could get the energy for free. I get my propane bottles filled at a welding supply outfit and it still costs $15. Certainly coal would be much cheaper and it would burn hot enough. Why didn't the kid in the first video add a cooling coil and collect the oil in a container just as moonshiners distill alcohol. My friend Ed has a copper still and it a piece of art work. All copper! Doubt if he would be too keen on distilling oil.

Yes, there would be energy lost in conversion. Going by the viewer comments, maybe not a reliable source, the Japanese inventor would expend 1 kilowatt for every 9 kilowatts produced. The bigger energy expenditure would be in gathering the plastic. Unfortunately, it might require sheets of floating plastic the size of Texas to put these plans in action. For better or worse, such things do not exist.
