Items From My Mailbox. Thanks Bonnie

DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE, BUT MAKES SENSE? HOW DID THEY DO IT? ORCHESTRATED GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN?... Did anyone besides me wonder how they got all those signs printed and distributed far and wide, including to all the national parks and cemeteries overseas only eight to ten hours after the government shut down? Take a look at this from someone who wanted to remain anonymous. I have worked in the government on and off for 40 years. During that time I became quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding contracts etc. It is a time consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every step of the way. The simplest request takes months not days or hours. In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously, professionally printed 3X4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying-“this [park, facility, etc. with custom logos] closed due to government shutdown. There has not been a government shutdown in 17 years. These signs were designed, specifications were determined, signs were then requisitioned, bids were posted and government contracts were awarded. The materials were then ordered and the signs manufactured then distributed U.S. Mails or freight companies. This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance at least 6-8 months ago. Millions of tax dollars were appropriated and spent in this process. There is a paper trail a mile long leading directly to the White House.

Further Reflections On Libertarians and The Tea Party.

The Tea Party was formed on the premise of fiscal conservatism and a reaction to Federal overreach. Libertarians are by definition advocates of limited government and by definition they are fiscally conservative. From its genesis the Tea Party was quasi-libertarian. One might say it was libertarianism with a narrow focus.

Time passed and the Tea Party and its members were harassed by the Obama Administration. But let's put the actions of Latter Day Fascists aside for a moment and concern ourselves with another development. The Tea Party was co-opted by opportunists. That should not surprise anyone over the age of twelve. It's part of the game. Remember the over the hill political starlets who aligned themselves with Ross Perot's Reform Party?

As opportunists go, this was a bleak harvest. After making a career of defending Republicans and Neo-Cons, Sean Hannity jumped on the bandwagon. The same could be said for most of talk radio. Hacks like Tommy Thompson launched their comebacks. Professional publicity-seeker Joe Arpaio strongarmed the spotlight. The Larouchians crashed town hall meetings. There were Mourdocks and Akins and Teavangelicals at every turn.

The media did their part to distort basic facts. Big-spending Tea Party antithesis Rick Santorum was often referred to as a Tea Party candidate. He expressed his disdain for all things fiscally sane by proposing a tax-driven war on "the scourge of pornography." Nothing wrong with big government if it is staffed with moral people. Spending isn't spending when we do the spending.

Santorum confirmed once more that fiscal conservatism is not compatible with social conservatism. The social conservative always defaults to increased spending. Always. Always. Always. See George Bush and the GOP vintage 2000-2006.

Ordinarily, fringe group rivalries are not always significant. However, Libertarians and the Tea Party are no longer so fringey and a gubernatorial election hangs in the balance. Ken Cuccinelli is a great guy. As Attorney General of Virginia he lead the legal fight against Obamacare. He is in a tight race with Democratic hack Terry McAuliffe. The margin of difference in the polling is about 9% which happens to be the number at which the Libertarian candidate is polling.

Since adolescence I have been either a small l, lower case libertarian, a quasi-libertarian or a libertarian sympathizer. Events like 9/11 have tempered my radical individualist perspective as have the opinions of upper case, large L Libertarians. The dictionary defines a libertarian as one who believes in free will. That would be me.

The discord between Libertarians and the Tea Party is a contrivance. However, the Dems are doing their best to exploit the situation. Out of nowhere these Lib v TP vids have sprouted up on Youtube. They are posted by more than one member who have not previously posted many videos and who it seems, have not been on Youtube for an extended time.

The bogus vids leave their Obot fingerprints everywhere. This is Pink Panther/Keystone Cop sleuth. The Tea Party characters are ditzy social conservatives and if that doesn't give it away, the Libertarians are Kool-Aid-soaked Obama worshippers.

I have never met a Libertarian or libertarian who has lost any sleep over the Ground Zero Mosque or the Birthers beating up on the pampered teacher's pet. At 2:27 of the first video they go off the rails and actually state that under Obama and the Dems Federal taxes have been lowered "in every measurable way." Even in the Obama era of optional truth you would think they would choose a less obvious lie.

If Ken Cuccinelli loses, it will not be due to these bogus Youtube vids. I will blame the GOP establishment, one hundred per cent. In the meantime, please enjoy the cheesy ass efforts of agent provocateur wannabes.

2:27!!!

Grambling Football Team Goes on Strike

I have never heard of anything like this ever happening. Grambling will forfeit its game with Jackson State because the team refuses to make the trip. Once Grambling had one of the best programs in college football. See the list of players Grambling sent to the NFL. With the forfeiture Saturday, Grambling will have lost 18 straight games. It is 0-7 this season and has fired two coaches in two months. I don't know the circumstances surrounding the team's decision but I do regret that this has happened to once proud Grambling. More.

Police Shoot Mentally Ill Man

Police shot a mentally ill man after his mother called and ask 911 them to send someone trained in working with the mentally ill. Two police officers arrived and promptly shot the poor soul. As is frequently the case in many of these videos I post the police account of the incident bears no resemblance to the video. According to police Bobby Gerald Bennett said he wanted them to shoot him. Bennett was told to drop a weapon he supposedly had in his hand, ignored orders and “took several steps toward them with the knife raised in an aggressive manner.”
That's a patent lie as his neighbor's video proves. The officer who did the shooting has been placed on indefinite leave and a criminal investigation is under way. Bennet did survive.

Networks Blame GOP For shutdown 41 Times. Dems 0

Republicans never expected to get a fair shake in the Big Three networks' coverage of the 16-day government shutdown, but the final tally of stories blaming the GOP is stunning: 41 stories blamed Republicans and zero blamed Democrats.
Nightly, 20 million Americans heard “a version of the shutdown story that could easily have emanated from Barack Obama's own White House,” said the new report from the Media Research Center.
The report, provided to Secrets, found that a total of 41 stories blamed Republicans for the shutdown. None blamed the Democrats. Another 17 blamed both sides.
In addition, those interviewed by the night news broadcasts by ABC, CBS and NBC whacked the Republicans by a six-to-one ratio, said the report.

Kendallville's Contribution to Political Commentary

Tiny Kendallville, Indiana population 9,862 has put itself on the map. Rather it has been put there by a Democratic PAC, Lyndon Larouche’s Political Action Committee. Yes, like the Westboro Baptists the followers of Larouche are Democrats. In any event, the Larouche movement has put up this nifty electronic billboard featuring Barack Obama sporting a Hitler mustache.

ATF allowed grenades "to walk" too

No wonder they hacked Sharyl Attkisson's computers. This woman is positively brave, intrepid, and and persistent. Everyone, including Congress and Fox News have given up on Fast and Furious and then she dropped this bombshell. According to Attkisson the AFT was also allowing grenades to go to Mexican drug cartels. One grenade killed three Mexican policemen.

Why Do Conservatives Hate Libertarians Above All Else?

I believe Conservatives hate libertarians because they point out the inconsistencies in Conservative policy. Nothing wrong with the nanny state so long as we have Conservative nannies.

Want to make Limbaugh or Hannity or Beck angry? Call in and mention Ron Paul's name. They hate the man. They dislike libertarians more than they dislike Democrats.

Howie Carr had Ann Coulter on his show today and I listened to about half of the interview. I love Howie Carr and I dislike Ann Coulter. Mind you, I often agree with Coulter but then she loses me sometimes and her personality is always a challenge to endure.

Anyway, Howie and Coulter were complaining because Ken Cuccinelli might lose the Virginia governorship due to the presence of a Libertarian candidate. Cuccinelli is trailing by about nine points which happens to be the percentage of voters the Libertarian candidate is polling. Howie and Coulter are blaming the Libertarians for Cucinelli's likely defeat.

First of all, I don't understand why Republicans think they own Libertarian voters. Second, who says Libertarians draw their backers from the GOP base? Third and most important, why don't the Republicans invite, entice or co-opt the libertarians into their scrawny tent?

About four million expected Romney voters stayed home on election day. Some of these were Ron Paul supporters who were treated rudely by Romney and Sununu at the GOP National Convention. Maybe if they would have treated the Ron Paul people with some respect and more importantly, if they respected The Constitution and the premise of fiscal conservatism, the Libertarian Party might not draw nine per cent of the vote.

I wish Cuccinelli well but if he cannot or will not appeal to a certain nine per cent of the populace, or worse yet, if his party is actively alienating that nine per cent then Virginia will officially become a blue state.

Giant Duhhhhh...Tea Partiers Have Higher Scientific Comprehension

Should we be surprised that the one political camp who can grasp the obvious is more scientifically literate than the mindless followers of Al Gore, the economics-has-a-right-wing-bias Occupy anything non-cerebral crowd or the stupid by choice because it is stylish Obama worshippers?

Should we be surprised that people (excuse me, I meant to say folks) who cannot grasp the rudiments of economics (either because they are lazy or stupid by choice) would score lower on scientific comprehension? Wonders never cease.

“But then again,” he admitted, “I don’t know a single person who identifies with the Tea Party. All my impressions come from watching cable tv — & I don’t watch Fox News very often — and reading the “paper” (New York Times daily, plus a variety of politics-focused internet sites like Huffington Post & Politico).”

Who Wins?

America and for that matter, any place that has practiced capitalism, has traditionally been a place for winners and losers. In any given year, most people prosper but 20 to 30 per cent either lose ground or stay about the same. Some years are better than others.

What is discouraging about the Obama era is that almost no one prospers. There are a few special interest groups that do OK. The politically-connected faction within Wall Street is doing fine. SEIU is prospering. The hard core welfare class is doing better than ever. Heroin use is booming (a statistic I was given yesterday was a 900% rise in the last decade. I can't verify that but it seems accurate to me.) Federal employees are living the good life. The DC Metro area continues to flourish. And of course, government contractors (like CGI for instance) have found ways to cope in difficult times.

So yes, there are a few niches that are doing fine. However, these are niches. When we look at the larger demographic groups--senior citizens, Millenials, African-Americans, Californians, public pension recipients, etc.,--we see malaise. I cannot think of a major demographic that has prospered in the Obama era. And yet, the Obots are there to cheer on their deity when he defeats a Ted Cruz. Yea! You won! What did YOU win?

One definition of utilitarianism is the greatest good for the greatest number. I cannot now remember if it was Buckminster Fuller or Robert Anton Wilson who coined the term futilitarianism to describe a state wherein the greatest harm is delivered to the greatest number. The Obama Administration, and most specifically Obamacare, is an ongoing tribute to futilitarianism. Besides CGI, the IRS and the thugs who wear the navigator crown, who benefits? Who wins?

Answer: Who cares? Drink the Kool-Aid!

Did We Learn Nothing From The Cornhusker Kickback?

Mitch McConnell just shot himself in the foot. He had been a shoe-in for re-election. Now, he might not win his primary.

I will take my chances with Democratic tyrants over the shifty Mitches. The Dems will admit that they want to enslave us. The Shifty Mitches are not so forthcoming.

I am sickened to see Issa's name on the list. No wonder all the scandal investigations have stalled. Then again the pacemaker crowd has had it too easy for too long. About time someone made them pay for their fancy medical devices.

Trey Gowdy eviscerates National Park Service Director

National Park Service Director Jonathan Jarvis declined to testify before the House Oversight Committee until Chairman Congressman Darrell Issa hit him with a subpoena. Maybe he had an inkling that Trey Gowdy was steamed.

Finally, Someone in Delaware signs up for Obamacare

Maybe Delaware could name a park or DMV branch after Janice Baker. The intrepid and resourceful Selbyville resident, after 17 days of trying, became the state's first resident to sign up for Obamacare. Baker succeed where other potential applicants failed by clearing her browsing history, cookies and other temporary data on her computer. I wonder if she'll get a call from Obama? As another Delaware native would say; "This is a big f@*&ing deal".

OMG Vermont has already enrolled 631 in Obamacare!

Will wonders never cease? Believe it or not Vermont has already signed up 631 people for Obamacare. From WCAX.com;
When Vermont Health Connect started Oct. 1, officials released numbers daily, showing how many people visited the site, how many accounts were established and how many people actually signed up.
WCAX News called Tuesday after the last two email updates did not include the number showing how many Vermonters signed up. A spokeswoman told us staff decided they will now only release information on Mondays and Fridays. She says daily updates will not provide Vermonters with accurate trends. But after our story aired at noon, officials released the latest numbers, saying 631 Vermonters had signed up.
The state is expecting 100,000 people to enroll for the new insurance system which starts Jan. 1.
Although people can sign up, a glitch in the system means you still can't pay for a plan. The state expects that to be fixed Nov. 1.
Okay, that's 631 who have signed up but who haven't paid and Vermont expects to enroll 100,000 people by January 1. That's about 1,100 per day but I'm sure the site will start working better after people stop going there. With these biweekly updates even Vermonters will be able to see the trends accurately. You don't need a weatherman to know etc.

Even the Daily Kos bombs Obamacare

Now we find out that the reason healthcare.gov makes the visitor create an account before viewing the available insurance plans is to keep nosy bloggers and others from seeing the price of the insurance premiums. As I have maintained there are no good deals except for the sickly and the poor, the latter which will qualify for Medicaid.
My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don’t go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.
Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife’s rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.
I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any fucking penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?
Oh, ok, if we qualify, we can get some government assistance. Great. So now I have to jump through another hoop to just chisel some of this off. And we don’t qualify, anyway, so what’s the point?
Well, the point of my post is that even the left is running from Obamacare. The writer was Tirge Caps and the post appeared in the Daily Kos. Read the comments. The readers all blame the insurance company except for those who think the author is confused.

Obamacare Marketplace: Personal Data Can Be Used For ‘Law Enforcement and Audit Activities’

I am shocked. Shocked I tell you. There is gambling in the casino! The following is taken from Maryland's Health Connection. Weeklystandard added the emphasis.

Should you decide to apply for health coverage through Maryland Health Connection, the information you supply in your application will be used to determine whether you are eligible for health and dental coverage offered through Maryland Health Connection and for insurance affordability programs. It also may be used to assist you in making a payment for the insurance plan you select, and for related automated reminders or other activities permitted by law.  We will preserve the privacy of personal records and protect confidential or privileged information in full accordance with federal and State law. We will not sell your information to others.  Any information that you provide to us in your application will be used only to carry out the functions of Maryland Health Connection. The only exception to this policy is that we may share information provided in your application with the appropriate authorities for law enforcement and audit activities

Police 3 Times More Likely To Murder Than A Concealed Carry Permit Holder

Here I link to ammoland. What a cool name! I love linking to cool-sounding sites.

The question arose, how often do police officers commit homicide compared to concealed carry permit holders?   Of the two, which is more common?

The Left's Aversion To Debate

This is classic. Leftists hate to exchange ideas. They hate discourse. They would rather silence dissent by shouting them down or in this case, cutting one's microphone.

We have to dispense with the idea that leftists are just like us, they just propose different solutions to problems. The problem is that Leftists are inherently authoritarian. They are bullies. They are thugs. They are cowards. Facts scare them. Truth scares them. Truth-tellers will not be tolerated.

IN THE WORDS OF COLONEL NATHAN R. JESSUP, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH."

Even Ezra Klein calls Obamacare rollout a disaster.

Normally I wouldn't encourage anyone to read Ezra Klein but normally Klein doesn't find disaster in the Obama administration. Neither Fast and Furious nor Benghazi, which were true disasters, tested Klein's faith in Obama but the rollout of the train wreck was just too hard to take. Yes, if the Republicans had a crystal ball and had adjusted their continuing resolution tactics differently it would look even worse but Klein should know Healthcare.gov will be the but of jokes long after the public has forgotten about the fight to defund it.

Cory Booker doesn't live here. Where does he live?

Is Cory Booker even a resident of New Jersey? With the special election only days off one would think the residency requirement would be moot. That is hardly the case. The Daily Caller has investigated and it seems that Cory Booker is an even bigger fraud than appears to be. The property he claims as his residence is occupied by his body guards as was verified by a community activist who was also the census taker. They told her it was a police station. So where does Booker live. New York City. No that can't be confirmed but when the Caller reporter went to that address he was met by a Newark detective. In all probability Booker will be elected but one doubts if that will put the issue to rest. The outcome may be determined in court.

Happy Columbus Day To All Imperialists

And thank you for spreading metallurgy and agriculture to two hungry continents, to say nothing about laying the Judeo-Christian foundation for a humane and just civilization. Your greatness will always be celebrated.

The funny "parade of the barricades"

The "million veteran march" was rowdy and largely ignored by the media, even Fox News. The behavior of law enforcement is perplexing. There was a brief shouting match in front of the White House but otherwise protestors were unmolested. I can understand the administration reluctance to jail hundreds of veterans but this video of demonstrators walking past police en route to the White House while carrying the barricades from the World War II Memorial makes me wonder what if any instruction DC and park police were given.

Joe Scarborough's Incredibly Cheap Divorce

Let's just indulge in a little gossip while we wait for Obama to plunge the country into economic chaos. Joe Scarborough is getting a divorce from his wife of 12 years so I assume this will be his second divorce. His weekly paycheck is $99,038 and he won't even have to pay child support for his 2 children. The terms of the settlement are unbelievably generous- to Joe. He will fork over $30,000 per month for 5 years, then $25,000 per month for 2 years. Joe also gave the ex a lump sum of $150k, and he’s paying the mortgage on their Connecticut home, and the kids’ schooling. Go figure. The lump sum payment of $150,000 is less than two week's pay and the $30,000 monthly stipend amounts to less 8 % of his gross. It's too bad all marriages can't end on such amicable terms!

The Case For Overwhelming Melancholy

Stupid people are depressing. Mobs of stupid people are frightening. A nation of stupid people invites despair.

According to Rasmussen, 38% of likely voters give Obama good or excellent marks on deficit reduction. Immigration, gun control, health care, etc., involve values and invite a certain amount of subjectivity. Not so deficit reduction. Numbers and only numbers determine one's success in reducing the deficit. Subjectivity in quantity usually involves deception, delusion, stupidity or fraud.

The President is on track to double our national debt. He will be eight for eight in running a deficit. His administration has run the largest deficits of any administration in US History. And yet, 38% of likely voters give him a thumbs up in deficit reduction. At least 38% of the population is blissfully ignorant of basic facts.

That must be some damn good Kool-Aid.

Three Primary Challengers To Lamar Alexander

There are two schools of thought on Lamar Alexander. Those who say he was corrupted by Potomac water and those who say he was never more than an empty suit from Tennessee. I can tell you that he has some passionate challengers this time around.
