Looking For Mr. Goodenough

While I believe that just about anyone would be better than Obama, the current batch of candidates do not excite me. Living in New Hampshire, I had planned to be a bit more receptive to the candidates. I might even post some original footage. I have not done that.

Ron Paul announced his candidacy a mile from my house and I was not in attendence. Huntsman used the same address to announce his run and I also ignored him. Romney announced his candidacy about five miles from my house and I was once more a no show.

Mostly, I deal with time constraints. 55 hours of work plus 15 hours commuting plus 20 hours blogging and writing account for most of my wakeful hours. But there is an enthusiasm gap. I like Johnson and Gingrich and Bachmann and Cain and I am not repulsed by Romney or Perry. But I am not motivated to do anything above and beyond voting for one of those candidates. Not this time.

But like a lot of people, I don't have to fall in love with someone to vote for them. Frankly, I would be repulsed by a candidate who offered transcendence or who commanded his minions to photoshop a halo around his head. But please do point me to the guy who could run a hardware store if he had to. I might just vote for that guy (or girl.) That might just be our Mr. Goodenough.
